It's book writing day! I'm currently reworking the final chapter (Practical advice and sustainable practices for artists - working title), and I feel like I'm writing exactly what my 20 year old self would have needed to read.

So, Vera won't be starting her adventure after all. Turns out the DM uses genAI in the game and I just... can't. I'm pushing against this crap on an every day basis in my work, and I'm sure as hell not going to let it taint the few precious hours of free time that I have. Ugh.

I keep seeing authors getting duped by AI users pretending to be artists (and then sadly realising it when everyone calls their book AI slop). These grifters are everywhere and I don't have a solution, but I have a few pointers:

Explored an abandoned kirkyard on the shores of Loch Leven today. There used to be a church dating from the Middle Ages here, later replaced by a mausoleum to the Thorn family. The oldest gravestones date to the 1600s. The whole place is overgrown with yews, nettle, ash, bramble, elder 🌿
