I've been staring at my current painting for so long I don't know if it's good anymore. I need an eye reset. A visual palate (palette?) cleanser.

Ossian's Crossing, September page of the 2026 Calendar. This watercolour depicts the poet's last journey. People often ask me if the place I painted actually exists: it does! It's the Hermitage Bridge over the River Bran, in Dunkeld, Scotland - built in 1770 by the 3rd Duke of Atholl.

There is a reason why I chose the Star for the cover of the 2026 Calendar. We find healing in her waters, renewed inspiration in her light. That’s my wish for the coming year. It’s no coincidence that it comes right after the Tower - hope after destruction.

Explored an abandoned kirkyard on the shores of Loch Leven today. There used to be a church dating from the Middle Ages here, later replaced by a mausoleum to the Thorn family. The oldest gravestones date to the 1600s. The whole place is overgrown with yews, nettle, ash, bramble, elder 🌿

The police officers arresting elderly people who are protesting against genocide must be really proud of themselves. Handcuffing brave old ladies who are marching because "they have less to lose than youngsters" if they get arrested. So much for free speech and right to peaceful protest in the UK.
