In an era of convenience and stunted attention spans, it isn't a challenge to surmise why it isn't that beloved. But it can have that spot in my heart, for what it's worth.

I saw that that one skill related to swapping weapons during a ki pulse is buried in the Nioh 3 demo skill tree and fucking screamed in agonised ebullience. This game is going to be so unbearably good, and it's absolutely going to lose swathes of players just due to the sheer number of mechanics.

I don't know what changed between the release of the demo and now, but Nioh 3 has been running like a dream all of a sudden and I am absolutely living for it. This game is going to swallow me alive.

Many of my quiet little reflections on art and the human experience have their roots in some form of Romanticism. Something I find amusing given the movement's heavy emphasis on nostalgia for a bygone era which deftly opposes how outspoken I tend to be against nostalgia at the conceptual level.

There is value in grounding or restricting the scope of one's fiction for practical or accessibility purposes. However, there is such a wealth of imagery and possibility available to those willing to disregard the nagging of the masses to explain everything.

On the one hand, you shouldn't hold too dearly to the past lest you be left behind as everyone around you pursues their futures. On the other hand, YouTube is recommending me tonnes of videos from twenty years ago and shit was just cooler back then, man.

This might be one of my favorite instances of unintended comedy ever. It's great even in a vacuum but it's 10x better when you know what kind of character Hakumen is.

Coworker of mine walked in while Pēteris Vasks' "Distant Light" was playing and said something to the extent of "oh, this is the sort of thing you listen to before jumping off a bridge" That may have been the quickest I've ever been temporarily radicalised into a self-important wannabe intellectual.

I'm sure there are a billion and one people who really like it, but every time I see Code Vein's characters, I'm always surprised that they just... look like that. The Bamco anime shovelware aesthetic must make infinite money or something.

This brings me immeasurable joy. You simply have no idea. Nothing you could ever say could possibly change my mind on this one. I am simply too happy right now.

I was already annoyed that Dynasty Warriors Origins doesn't have co-op like every good musou game should, but seeing the key art for the DLC on Steam prominently display two characters in a classic two-player pose made that annoyance run significantly deeper.

I'm not necessarily the most preservation-minded when it comes to certain trivial things. Play all my TCGs unsleeved, that sorta thing. Played so much Gen 1 and 2 Monster Hunter this weekend that I believe I've finally given myself carpal tunnel. Something about claw on a Dualsense that just kills my wrist. Might have to bust out the Dualshock 3 to keep myself from being hospitalised by mid-2000's Capcom.

Khezu has never been a challenging fight, per se, but the Dos version is almost comically easy. Like, yeah, it can kill you in two hits. but so can everything. Just don't get hit.

I acknowledge it must be intensely stressful to release a successful video game as a small studio, because reaching expectations on future projects just became far more difficult. That said, learning that Hyper Light Breaker will never "really" leave early access is still really really funny.

I've been losing my goddamned mind over the final boss of Fairune I today, only to just now learn that my game is running at about three times the speed it's supposed to because the game clock is tied to the display framerate. I fucking love indie games. This shit's hilarious.

Ignoring the pedantry inherent to such a complaint for a moment, everyone on planet Earth uses the word "Horror" incorrectly with regard to genres of media and I think that's what's gonna be what makes me finally snap in my advanced age.
