I've been silently hate-reading Noa-Senpai wa Tomodachi for the past year or so and, while I can definitely see why the series would hook some people with the cute art and enjoyable side cast, the main heroine is just so fucking insufferable and sucks all the joy out of the series.

Because I have very wonderful friends, and to make up for a dogwater seasonal illness that's wrecked my weekend, myself and two buddies played a good six hours of Crystal Chronicles today. I can comfortably say no other game or group of people can so easily bring me to such inner peace.

I could genuinely feel some amount of good will returning to SNK with how positively the recent CotW characters have been received and the Kenshiro announcement garnering some hype. Then I, on a whim, check their twitter and they're out peddling some wack-ass NFT shit because I can't have anything.

On the one hand, CotW Blue Mary is incredibly fun, has an incredibly high skill ceiling, and I am really enjoying slowly improving at her gameplan. On the other hand, she is without both of the surprise lows I loved in KOF and now I can't gimmick people out with the white woman jumpscares.

Fucking... fighting games, man. This bitch is nutty. I can't wait to lose hours to trying to perfect weird timings like this.

Motherfuckers don't yap over VOIP in Hunt: Showdown like they used to. I knew as soon as they announced team chat fukken eons ago that half the fun I have in the game would be shelved, and it's been such a bummer coming back to the game and discovering I was right.

I think the most annoying thing about the Dissidia gacha is that, yes, it'll likely hit EoS in half a year, but it won't be a financial failure to Squenix. They're gonna make bank on six months of waifu costumes and P2W PVP gacha, learn nothing besides "this still works," and do it again next year.

It's been probably three years since I played Guilty Gear Strive, so I kinda forgot how weird the game looks in motion before seeing that Jam trailer. Every special move, heavy normal, and dash has this bizarre lurching quality to their startup frames. What a strange game.

Seeing a surprising amount of people mad about Alex's story in SF6, and I can't lie, that shit's hilarious. The implication of someone being turned off by the story in a genre that exists purely as a setting for competition is one of the most outrageous concepts in recorded human history.

Nothing in video games hits quite as good as playing a Wizardry game, spending all your money on level-ups, only to then immediately lose two of your frontliners because you rolled 1 hp heals twice in a row and now they're too expensive to revive. I fucking love these games.

I was reminded today that there exist real live human beings who have had their minds so thoroughly shattered by an endless stream of media that they've resorted to nonstop YouTube videos all set to 1.5x or even 2x speed. Because I guess they just need more stimulation per minute or something.

The DLC is even worse. How the fuck did they get away with charging fifteen quid for this? The whole thing takes an hour to beat and is nothing but combat arenas. Yakumo's new weapon doesn't really fill any niches that weren't already filled. And Ryu's new weapon is missing half a fucking moveset.
