The UCT Prague team led by Assoc. Prof. Martin Kuchař developed rapid tests and certified methods to detect illegal substances in counterfeit and unregistered drugs – from SARMs to growth hormones.

🧪 Work from Prof. Radek Cibulka’s team featured on the cover of Chemical Science! In collaboration with Adam Mickiewicz University, the team developed a new photocatalytic reduction system based on deprotonated flavins – derivatives of vitamin B2.

🌍 Science from Prague making waves in the US! PhD student Ing. Dániel Gardenö from prof. Karel Friess’ group at UCT Prague won 2nd place for best student posterat the NAMS 2025 conference in Nashville — the largest membrane conference in North America with 550+ participants.

🌟 Researchers from UCT Prague, led by Prof. Zdenek Sofer, have developed a novel method for synthesizing MXenes 🧬. For the first time, Ti₃C₂Tx MXene was synthesized using carbon microfibers (CF) as both the carbon source and template, resulting in a unique tubular structure 🌐.

♻️ Scientists from UCT Prague have demonstrated that even non-recyclable polypropylene can find a second life 🌱 – as synthesis gas and valuable carbon. Using high-power microwave plasma, they transformed waste polypropylene into syngas (useful as fuel) and highly reactive nanostructured carbon 🧬.

Fullerenes 🌐 hold great potential in fields like medicine 💊, electronics 💡, and materials science 🧪, but their practical use is hindered by costly separation.
