I’ve spent years in public service — holding the powerful accountable and standing up for people who needed someone in their corner. That work shaped my belief that justice must be fair, consistent, and rooted in facts — not fear, not your background, and not your zip code.

I enjoyed attending the 46th MLK, Jr. Ecumenical Service in Raleigh yesterday. I find myself reflecting on the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: “An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Another great Wake County house party last night. Thanks to newly-elected Cary Town Councilmember Brittany Richards for joining us to support the campaign, and to everyone who came ready for thoughtful conversations about public safety in Wake County and why this race for Wake DA matters.

When I served in Congress, I brought home millions for law enforcement — including funding for the Wake County Sheriff’s Office to purchase body-worn cameras. Body cameras protect the public and officers, keep us safe, and strengthen accountability.
