I went to see Born with Teeth last night, which was enormous fun. Edward Bluemel is great in it but oh my, Ncuti Gatwa has such CHARISMA. An unbelievably hot, sexy, arrogant Marlowe - just as you'd want. Also loved that Shakespeare is played as a nerd who just wants to work.

There is scaffolding up outside my office window and honestly, sometimes I wish I didn't work on my books as of course, I am assuming that someone will end up falling off it/pushed off it by the end of today.

Am the least sports orientated person around but oh my, I cannot tell you how emotional I got watching the Euros last night just thinking that my small child & all their friends have grown up in a world where womens football is on prime time. How incredibly different from my childhood experiences.

What a lovely time at Harrogate this year - saw 2 excellent panels, had an author dinner where I laughed so much at my colleague accidentally killing off a revered author (he's fine, don't worry) that I cried, bumped into lots of excellent people & had free ice cream courtesy of Faber & Jess Kidd.

When I booked my Harrogate train tickets, it was forecasting sunshine. Slightly unimpressed with the thundery showers it's now pivoted to, even if that's possibly more thematically appropriate to @ravenbooks.bsky.social.

There are obviously many advantages of working for @bloomsburybooksuk.bsky.social - the books! the authors! - and I'm just adding finding Yorkshire Tea's 'Biscuit Brew' teabags in the work kitchen to them today.

Reading the @londoncentric.media newsletter over my lunch and getting surprisingly emotional about the story about all the bus drivers who came to work on 7/7 to get the bus network running again so they could get all the commuters home from the centre when there were no tubes or trains.

I need a new non work book to read after submissions and before bed. I just finished Long Island Compromise, which was great but unbelievably stressful at times - in the way of watching Uncut Gems - so maybe something *slightly* less likely to break me out in hives would be good.

Two exposes of publishing in a few days is not a *great* endorsement of my industry but on the happier side, I had an amazing time at one of our local libraries and then at the Discover Story Centre (discover.org.uk) with my small boy this weekend. The true magic of children's books.

Editors/writers - do any of you do edits on a tablet with a smart pen? I hate hate hate having to do edits on my laptop with tracked changes and am weighing up whether it's worth getting a refurbished tablet & smart pencil for editing purposes. Would love to know anyone's experiences of using them.
