I watched PRINCESS MONONOKE at my local IMAX the other night, and to use a cliché it was absolutely breath-taking. I loved it already, but it's truly a film designed for the big screen in every way - epic in visuals, themes and scale. Miyazaki is a total master of his medium.

Aubrey finding an analogy for her experience of grief in 'The Gorge' is very touching - there's something deeply human about our ability to find meaning, and even carthasis, in stories that strike others as shallow. Due to their inherent distance, genre films are more digestible than serious dramas.

I had an incredible time at Cinema Rediscovered in Bristol today - watched two brilliant Japanese classics and a beautiful Anna May Wong silent with an incredible live score. Absolutely worth the five hour round trip (as you may realise, I take cinema seriously).

Okay I watched Superman and I have one burning question - what's the deal with Jimmy Olsen? Why on god's green earth is he such an irresistible babe magnet? I have no qualms with the actor, but nothing about that character is remotely swoon-worthy. Is it just for the bit? What am I missing here?!

Kylo Ren being openly complimentary towards Hux is the least believable thing to ever happen in a Star War.

Am very grateful that they finally found someone who can draw Kylo like the pretty princess he is.

My main objection to what I'm seeing from recent issues of LoV is that they seem to make Kylo way too competent and effective as Supreme Leader. This contradicts my dearly held headcanon that Kylo spends the entire year between TLJ and TROS as a human disaster/hiding in his room.
