Had an inadvertent #MayTheFourthBeWithYou commemoration by doing the pilgrimage to Peter Cushing's charming seaside home in Whitstable (easily one of Kent's most pleasant towns!).

This sort of thing makes me desperate for a J. W. Rinzler (RIP) esque making-of book doing a proper deep dive into the creative development of the sequel trilogy. I just know that conversations about Reylo were happening from the very beginning.

Unbelievably, this bust ('Eastre') is from 1924! I love how sci-fi it feels, even predating creations like Maria from Metropolis and C3PO from Star Wars.

I just watched the Sadie Sink version of Romeo & Juliet in London and it was fantastic - very much framed from Juliet's perspective, it's funny but also a deeply emotive and sympathetic portrait of adolescent angst. (There's a moment at the end where Romeo cradles Juliet exactly like this 🥲)

Jenny's new video is delightful (as always!), but I just need to provide a trigger warning for the Reylos: there's a brief appearance from what's arguably the most traumatic scene in The Rise of Skywalker. I know that it haunts Jenny, just as it haunts us.

I think a big reason why I've never fully warmed to the new Dune films is that I find their aesthetics and world-building distinctly ugly and unappealing (all by design, ofc!). I guess I'll always be a sci-fantasy girl for that reason - no part of me would want to visit the world of Dune.

I saw TFA and felt uncomfortable with yet fascinated by the Rey/Kylo dynamic (I went in with the notion that they were likely related). I googled the characters' names & found the 'Reylo' tag on Tumblr. Watched TFA again and became convinced that Reylo was baked into the story. The rest is history!

Was at the local Odeon for Scarlet and they showed a new featurette for TMAG beforehand. It was a mix of talking heads (Pedro, Jon, Doug), movie clips & shots of George Lucas filming the original Star Wars. They're selling it using the TFA method (i.e. emphasising practical effects & model work).

I was rooting for THE BRIDE but unfortunately it was something of a disaster. Many fun and interesting ideas are wasted on a chaotic soup of a plot. In its favour: Jessie Buckley gives one of the most deranged lead performances I've ever seen, and there's no scarcity of passion. boxd.it/drDobH

David Dastmalchian makes for a gloriously emo/petulant Kylo Ren in the All-Star Live Reading of The Force Awakens. And I'm choosing to take this interpretation of the interrogation scene as a win for the Reylos.

Had a very enjoyable evening watching BIRD GROVE. The play is about George Elliott and is largely middling, albeit somewhat elevated by a nuanced exploration of her faith crisis. But the real star of the show is Elizabeth Dulau, who excels and mines deep emotion for the part. She's note perfect.

They need to keep that title.

Reylo always does badly on lists like this and it will never not drive me a little feral. The sexual tension between Rey and Kylo is unmatched imho and I'll never get how it just totally fails to register for some viewers. A true enigma.

It's so surreal seeing the Whitgift Centre featured in a new Taylor Swift music video. A correction for anyone who's confused: the Whitgift Centre is not yet dead, but it is certainly dying. (Though maybe the power of the Swifties can save it? It's definitely the best PR it's had in ages.)
