Some thoughts on the implications of today's tariff decision—& what it means for consumers. To begin, businesses who bore the costs of the tariffs are already lining up to seek refunds. But they didn't bear those costs alone. Many costs were ultimately passed on to consumers. /1

In an outrageous middle finger to our planet’s future—and a gift to billionaires and fossil-fuel companies—the Trump Administration today repealed the Endangerment Finding, which provides the EPA authority to regulate greenhouse gases. Here’s what’s at stake, and what I’ll do as AG: /1

What @sbagen.bsky.social says to read, you read. This is spot-on: “The capacity & willingness of state & local prosecutors to act, not in contravention of legitimate federal interests, but in defense of their citizenry…is not only consistent w/ the structure of American government but vital to it.”

Nobody’s above the law. Though federal officers have immunity defenses that can be raised in court, the Trump Admin is wrong to suggest that ICE officers are categorically exempt from state law. Nor can the feds simply tell the state not to investigate, or not to charge. Nobody’s above the law.

AG Nessel is entirely correct about the stakes here. As a result of a recent Supreme Court ruling limiting nationwide injunctions, Michigan *must* participate in lawsuits that harm the people of this state—or risk being left out of any relief ordered by a court.

BREAKING: The Trump Administration has filed an “emergency” appeal of a court order requiring it to pay SNAP benefits. And just now, we’ve joined over 80 local governments & officials in filing a brief urging the continuation of those benefits. /1

The University of Michigan’s decision—under federal threats—to cease providing gender-affirming care to young people is bone-chilling. Gender-affirming care’s legal in Michigan, & federally. Yet Trump’s executive order & sham “investigations” cowed a major provider into not offering that care. /1

Corporations shouldn’t be allowed to jack prices up based on who people are—or what they’re going through. Yet companies are shifting to AI price models that could do just that. Not on my watch. As AG, I’ll use every legal tool to ensure the price remains the price, for everyone.
