I combed an ounce of Millie (Corrie/Romney/merino/CVM) to pair with this Vermont Spindle "Alta" in Bubinga for the upcoming Spindle Bingo 2025 prize drawing. Very much channeling @salenask.bsky.social here 🤍

Following in @whatvivdoes.bsky.social footsteps and pulling out some precious hand combed fleece from @salenask.bsky.social to spin - on an @allenrberry.bsky.social drop spindle, natch. The fleece is Dorset Horn and Salena combed this and a couple other fleece samples for me to try - (con't)

Temp cop nearly got out of hand but we survived it. Now do we keep dancing defiantly at the edge of the abyss??? Yes everything is a metaphor these days.

My six year old was asking about the presidency, and I told him that our household does not agree with the current elected person on many points. I then wanted to tell him about checks and balances in government but had to stop short. I literally have no words for the state we are in.

This week has been a lot. I spent it in Canada, but there is no real getting away from the state of the world. This is all I've spun this week. I hope you are safe and practicing as much self care as possible. It's a long fight we have ahead of us, remember to rest and refuel.

I took an online class on spinning for consistency with Maggie Casey through MDSW this past weekend & one of the things we did was to examine the variance in yarn we could produce by adjusting only the brake band - same whorl, same number of treadles, same draft, same fiber. 🧶 #yarnsky #spinningyarn

Finished my haunui + angora spin on my Allen Berry spindles, starting Treebeard battlings from Woodland Pixie on my ent-y, woodland-y, walnut Woodland Woodworking spindles.

Currently working on a set of Sticklebatts from Inglenook Fibres called "Midnight Swim". These have a base of hand processed Nash Island Fleece - they're a unique and fascinating breed, do look them up! Using my Jenkins Dovekie in Asian Satinwood. I couldn't love these colours more.

🧵 My friend Salena gifted me washed & flicked merino x locks to try spinning from the lock. I dutifully gave it a go (on a suspended spindle bc those are her fave) and couldn't get over the fact that they weren't as even as I could make them in a carded prep.
