Taylor McCoy and I played Daspletosaurus today in Path of Titans and managed to hunt another animal from the Dinosaur Park formation (Parasaurolophus).

The nickname "Supercroc", and I guess its name translating to "Flesh crocodile" has given many laypeople the impression that Sarcosuchus is a crocodile or crocodilian. It's not really a true crocodile, branched off from true crocodiles in a family called Pholidosauridae (art: Sergey Krasovskiy)

Watching the Arapaima episode of River Monsters where Jeremy talks to a native villager who tells him there's a potentially Titanoboa-sized snake in the same waters and Jeremy is deadass like "Aight hold up, the Arapaima can wait" and decides he wants to look for this fucking thing. Paging any fossil fish expert: Since hybodonts aren't true sharks, are there any actual selachimorphs in the fossil record that are also able to survive in salt and freshwater like a Bull shark? Or is the Bull shark unique in this?

Does anybody know if we have a count/estimate for how many known specimens of Edmontosaurus (annectens and regalis) there are? It sounds like there's a ton based on the way people talk about it, but from my cursory skimming of scholarly sources and museum pages, it seems like it's just a few dozen.

Haven't posted here in a whole so let's remedy that Here's a big freaking sauropod figure I just got. The Haolonggood Apatosaurus. It is the largest figure in my entire collection and has the most commanding shelf presence ever.

Kinda wild to me that Taurovenator and Meraxes might have been coeval. It's one thing to see coeval medium-sized tyrannosaurids like Gorgosaurus and Daspletosaurus, but coeval giant carcharodontosaurids measuring upwards of 10 meters and 4+ tons is pretty insane.

I just had someone tell me that "CM 9380" sounds like it could be the batch number of a Clone trooper like how Cody is CC 2224 and Captain Rex is CT 7567, and I'm like "Damn it really does"

Metriacanthosaurus - though I only call it that because I wanted to do a reconstruction with the colouration from the Jurassic Park "Hammond Collection" toy. Really this is Sinraptor, its closest relative. which is necessary due to the fragmentary nature of Metriacanthosaurus.
