In the time we've had a TikTok paper under review (not that long), one country has passed a bill to ban social media and a court in the US has rejected an attempt to appeal a law - paving the way for a TikTok ban. It’s absolutely breathtaking how fast the Australian social media ban has happened. Even if - *even if* - the evidence were there to support such a move (there isn't), the lack of consultation and consideration is a major red flag. This is not a good approach to lawmaking.

What an utter disgrace. I am beyond disgusted with the lower house MPs and senators that voted this bill through without even the barest degree of scrutiny, and with those that have aided and fuelled the moral panic in this country.

Just finished my teaching of this semester. Won't be teaching again until September '25, so I intend to spend quite a lot of time staring out of my office window from now on. Yet, I might also allow myself some reading (and writing) time, and I am open for suggestions.
