Work busy time has arrived (as it always does at this time of year), plus I took on an extra project that was supposed to be a quick few hours and well… I’m gonna have to caffeinate real well for the next couple of weeks. And once I’m done? Shiny cardboard reward.

It has been a long time since I did clean up on some one else’s art for print and special finish purposes… And whooooo boy am I scared.

Taxes done. Woo!

Going to go see my tax prep person today and I hate how it’s always “do I have all the forms and records I need?” every fricken year.

We’re on the last stretch of meds with Magnus and it has felt like months instead of like 10 days. He has improved and is much more like himself, but I’m still waiting with baited breath for it rear it’s head again like a bad penny.

Today InDesign refused to export imported links (said links were other indesign files- it’s packaging) to a pdf and when checking visibility? They were visible objects, on the right layer, layers were on… And I have spent way too much time troubleshooting basic program functions this morn CRANKY

There are days I want to just reach through my computer and smash heads into desks.

Yes, the meds are working but my dog literally sounds like he’s run a marathon breathing wise. Yes, I know it’s just the side effect of the meds (prednisone is no fun for people or dogs- he is fine) because he has ALL the other minor side effects too. Cannot sleep for the extra noise!

Trying to find a groomer around here who I trust to not ruin my Irish Setter’s coat is turning into a needle in a haystack… no you may not shave my dogs head, the fuzz just needs stripped, you will ruin her fucking coat with the shave, thanks. Guess I’ll learn how to do it myself…

So, I have hit the point where I feel better about Magnus’ current state cause he does not have a fever and he has not coughed today at all which means he likely does not have Blasto. The meds are doing a number on him, he’s either “I NEED TO ZOOM” or the doggy version of “whiny toddler need nap.”

Today, I am reminded that just because you are an artist, it doesn’t mean you are a designer and vice versa. There is overlap to a degree, but they are different skill sets.

Exhaustion for days. Magnus seems to be improving. He’s not coughed this morning at all with the meds and is much more himself. I just want to sleep.

Didn’t expect to be at the E-vet with Magnus, at 3 am this morning but here we are. Cough that came on suddenly that’s bringing up white and frothy mucus and whistling when he breathes… Been constant now since 11pm. :(

As much as I absolutely am 100% for going to a professional groomer for my dogs… I also know enough to be dangerous and am tempted to do it myself (to a degree) to work on Ruby’s dislike of the tools.

Shiny cardboard arrived. I got a fab deal on an ETB and pulled nothing (paid MSRP). 4 random packs of an entirely different set? 4 decent hits. I’ve never been lucky with shiny cardboard ever so I don’t know if this is a sign or not lol.

Ants are gone. The unopened bag of dog treats was clearly the culprit and while I hadn’t opened it, there must have been a pinhole in the bag somewhere. I always keep a bag of treats for Magnus in the office, so time to look for something I can put future bags into so the ants don’t come back

Do I buy some shiny cardboard to open as a treat or not? Hmm… Too bad it’s an online purchase, the local place tends to be scalper prices.

Omfg- the ants are after Magnus’ bag of treats (they aren’t even open yet!!) that live here in the office. Fuck sake. Guess now I have to spray since the peppermint oil spray didn’t work. And I hate that method more than anything. :/ I do not have the spoons for this.

I did not expect my Monday night to be a full groom Magnus sort of night but here we are. Ruby decided that muddy feet belong on Magnus’ back and the two started playing and so mud. Mud. And it’s so cold? An hour and a half of drying spaniel coat with a hand blaster.

Hoping that soon, maybe, I can find my drawing hands again and do some more woodburning/pyrography. Art burn out is a stinker. I still love this piece. 6x6 inch wood panel done in 2021.

I finished my glass mosaic piece last night, and then this morning started looking and realized I’d need to take the glue I hate, water it down, and do a wash to make sure that I didn’t have gaps that grout could get under. So now it’s wait mode till that dries, which takes FOREVER.

I have 9 glass pieces left to grind, fit, and glue and then the hard part is over. Then once it’s all dry I can grout. And then it’s time to start the next.

Dad went and picked up my car for me since I am flat with a migraine. Everything was covered under warranty. They fixed the manual key problem and started the main battery again and charged it. The tow cost me $80 bucks.

‘Aaaayyyy we are ok and out of our safe closet and man was that rough. Not sure if we are done just yet- I see more building over state lines.

Watching storms and it looks like there’s a confirmed tornado warning a couple counties over and the track is not looking great for the town I live in so gonna be hunkering down. I DID NOT EXPECT 2026 STORMS TO MIRROR 2025.

Yesterday, I discovered my car was deader than dead while heading out to go to a work lunch. Tried to get in using the manual key for the lock, which did not work, so I couldn’t get in to hit the button to do the battery jump start (joys of a hybrid).

And like clockwork every year, the minute the temp warms and snow melts and we have waterlogged ground? The ants come to visit my bathroom and office. Every YEAR. Without fail. I have no food- go away. I vacuumed yesterday. I promise, there are NO CRUMBS/DOG TREATS. Shoo! SHOO!

I was NOT EXPECTING that iridescent glass to be that fire. I need more. The actual glass when backlit is a beautiful soft blue with white and lilac streaks, think sky. The blue arrived cracked, but it’s a clean single break so I’m totally okay with it and have more than enough.

Glass package arrived, haven’t gotten into it yet cause I need to finish my work day. It’s beautiful out today- sunny and 70 degrees F! Perfect weather. Like 70-75 F is glorious. And tomorrow- severe storms. Hahaha.

Ooooo the last of my glass shows up tomorrow. And the replacement sheets showed up intact today. Maybe time to tackle a critter once I finish the one I’m working on.

This piece is proving to be a challenge. I’m looking at it as one piece at a time. The blue and greens are my favorite brand of glass (Youghiogheny).

Yay! Broken Glass is being replaced I am so relieved. I hate the fact that the company has to send me MORE glass on their dime being that they are a small business and all. I don’t have to replan my project now, which I was working on. YAY!
