Today marks the 50th Anniversary of SE Asian refugees arriving WA state (post April 1975 - known as “the fall of Saigon”). May 20th 1975. The plane carried the first 34 Vietnamese refugees from Camp Pendleton, CA landed at gate B5 SeaTac airport.

Yesterday, our family commemorated 42 years we arrived from VN to WA as refugees. May 20th 2025, we commemorate 50th years SE Asian Refugees arrival to WA from Camp Pendleton! Congress did not pass laws to recognize SE Asians as legal refugees til 5/23/1075. Our state legacy: #PeopleFirst
