i still can’t believe i took this photo. i was trying to get the reflection of jupiter in the black sand beach there on the right side and the sky just started LIGHTING UP suddenly. absolutely insane to witness this.

i set my camera up and captured about 45 minutes of the earths rotation on Rapa Nui (easter island), one of the most remote inhabited islands in the world and one of the darkest skies on earth. here's the result! 🗿🌌

i gotta say… the beaches in the philippines are the best i’ve ever seen. and they do such a good job protecting them you love to see it. i wish thailand was this strict about single use plastics.

i’m working on a photo project documenting the worlds darkest skies in hopes of bringing awareness to the issue of light pollution. my first stop on this journey was Rapa Nui aka Easter Island. i was granted exclusive permission by the indigenous police to shoot here at night! 🌌🗿

i visited socotra as part of my project photographing the darkest skies in the world! i spent a week there March ‘23 and camped out while working on my photo journal. socotra is an island off the horn of africa, but is part of Yemen. it has lots of endemic plants like the dragons blood tree!

The exodus from Twitter is wild to watch in real-time. It just shows how small the first exodus was when Elon bought Twitter a couple years ago. What I mean by that is, I’m losing many thousands of followers a day (which is totally fine) — that was not the case back in 2022.
