Today’s Raven News: Chips & Gravy came together numerous times, both don’t stay for long as one always flies away with food, hopefully for the chicks. The chicks could be about 2 weeks old now. The last 2 yrs they have brought them to met me so maybe I will see these in 3 weeks!

Quieter for birds on today's walk but having our regular Red Kite putting on a show was amazing! It flies over really low and actually stops off in trees too. Also more singing Willow Warblers this spring than ever before, Yellowhammers, Reed Buntings, Lapwings, Skylarks etc! #ukbirding

A bevy of beauties in last night’s 15/40 in Marbury: Pine, Brindled and Oak. Spring moths are the best 😁 but then in summer I think the Hawk-moths are the best and in autumn the Sallows and Mervs!! 1 NFY Red-green Carpet. Other notables a Dotted Border and 3 Lunar Marbled Browns #teammoth

Amazing walk! Fab views of a Wheatear, 1st Sedge Warbler of the year, Bullfinches NFY too (quite unusual here), Willow Warblers, Chiffchaffs, Blackcaps, Oystercatcher, Goldcrests, Nuthatches, Yellowhammers, Reed Buntings & 3 Waders over, sounded like Curlew but terrible photos! #ukbirding

Today’s Raven News: Both Chips & Gravy looking well. They came together once but more separately. Didn’t get video but while walking I suddenly heard a water droplet call just behind me as Chips came to say hello! I love spending time with them & it seems the feeling is mutual 😊

16/63 last night. A nice number of moths to process! 1 NFG and 5 NFY ( if me and obs are correct with the Pugs 😄. NFY: Water Carpet, Grey Birch, Brindled Beauty, Lunar Marbled Brown, Common Pug and NFG Oak-tree Pug. Other notables Satellite and a lovely fresh April March Moth! #teammoth (cont!)

Today’s Raven News: they visited individually and as a couple today. Gravy was alone with me calling for ages, looking around, then sat in a tree calling. Eventually Chips flew in and she chortled at him. I think she had been calling him! Perhaps I’m learning to speak Raven 🤣

As you have probably gathered I have a bit of a love of Oak Trees! I just love the shape and feel of them, scattered around the countryside. Today I noticed just a couple have started to come into leaf. Is this early or am I misremembering, I thought it was more late April

A different feel to the birds on today's walk. Just a couple of Fieldfares but lots of singing Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs, a Willow Warbler & 2 Swallows. Also Yellowhammers, Reed Buntings, Goldcrests, Nuthatches, Sparrowhawk, Ravens, Grey Wagtails & a Blue tit against the moon! etc! #ukbirding

The Marbury traps have been quiet for a few days. Mainly Hebrew Characters but happy to have any moths! Also Early Thorn, Brindled Pug , Small Quakers, Early Greys, Common Quakers & Clouded Drabs. Today Brimstones and Holly Blues on my walk signalling an upturn in conditions for mothing?😄 #teammoth

Today’s Raven News: Chips & Gravy came separately early. Gravy came first for a quick hello then Chips followed me for an hour of my walk stopping off in trees & fences to chat! I then sat for a while and they both came together. I know I am biased but they’re so very special! 😃

What a beautiful second walk, it is a really beautiful day to be out walking even if it was relatively quiet for birds! Always enjoy to see and hear the Fieldfare flocks though and the Oystercatchers where on the mere again. Nothing blown onto the mere though. Maybe later!

Chips and Gravy present and correct this morning. They came separately for some egg. I can tell them apart easily at the minute as Chips is all clean and pristine whereas Gravy looks like she has had a hard night in the nest 😄

Today’s Raven News: Both came early for a short time for some egg. It really makes my heart lift when I hear their calls! It’s lovely to see them both again. Chips spent lots of time preening himself again. Both had poo on their feathers today, maybe from sitting on the nest

Had amazing views of a Red Kite soaring over low while I sat with Chips. It completely ignored us and surprisingly Chips ignored it too! If you had told me 10 years ago that on my morning walk I'd sit with a Raven as a Red Kite flew over I'd never have believed you!

Walking with Ravens 😁 One of the really lovely things that the Ravens do is walk with me (just for a short time) while I walk. It just feels so nice to have Ravens walk beside you 😀🥰

Surprisingly sunny walk! Highlights! Ravens, Buzzards, Jays, Blackcaps, Cetti's, Chiffchaffs, Nuthatch, Yellowhammer, Reed Bunting, still a few Fieldfares but the Redwings seemed to have gone, Mistle Thrush, Wrens, Oystercatchers, Tufted Ducks, Wigeon, GWEgret, Grey Wagtails etc! #ukbirding

7/10 in Marbury VC58 last night. Nothing new but always joy to have an Oak Beauty. Almost missed this Brindled Pug as it was so well camouflaged! I was kept company while I processed the trap by this little Nursery Web Spider! #teammoth

Raven News: Wonderful few hours with the Ravens. Both Chips and Gravy came numerous times together and separately. They found Carrion but still enjoyed a bit of egg! I sat today for a while and it was just amazing to watch Chips soar high in the sky tumbling showing off to Gravy!

Today’s Raven News😀 Saw both Chips and Gravy separately again. Chips hasn’t been doing his clacking for a while but did spend some time relaxing and clacking today so obviously not as busy! I went for an afternoon walk to look for Osprey and he found me on that too!!

Some cloud last night in Marbury produced a lovely trap 11/22 with 3 NFY: Herald, Double-striped Pug & Streamer. Also ( I think!) my 2nd Lead-coloured Drab. 35 species for the year now, March: 29 species with 4 NFG: Tawny Pinion, L-c Drab, Pine Beauty & Leek Moth (Acrolepiopsis assectella) #teammoth

Some habitat/landscape photos. I am sure there must be other areas with as many different habitats and areas where you can walk on lanes and footpaths without having any main roads or crowds of people but I don't know of them! I always feel so lucky that I found/Marbury found me!

Beautiful warm!! walk this morning. Highlight was seeing my first ever patch march Willow Warbler. Also Ravens, Buzzards, Great Spotted Woodpecker, still lots of Fieldfares around (40+ this morn) and a couple of Redwings, Cetti's, Chiffchaffs, Shelducks, Lapwings, Skylarks etc! #ukbirding

Today’s Raven News: Lovely to see Chips & Gravy together even if for a short time. Had many visits while on my walk & I am pretty sure that Gravy came on her own once. Chips must have been on nest duty. He is being a good partner as he was also did his job of seeing off Buzzards!

Today’s Raven News: Both Chips & Gravy came early but Gravy only stayed for a minute to have some egg. Gravy’s behaviour suggests that the eggs may have hatched. If that is the case I may see fledglings in mid May like the previous 2 years. Chips came to visit many times!

Chips dislikes Buzzards most! He was chasing them again this pm. Also a close up of yesterday's upside down Buzzard! Birds are amazing, from Kites to Ravens to singing Yellowhammers & returning Swallows, there's nothing more exciting, interesting or fun, except perhaps Moths😀

Fantastic second walk. Never had such a good view of a Red Kite and it sat in a tree nearby too! Also 40+ Sand Martins over the mere. One looked a bit bigger and blacker but it was very distant! No Osprey. I have to go bellringing now but will give it a good go after!!

Both Chips and Gravy early. Gravy looked a bit scruffy! She had white on her legs. I wonder if it was poo from the nest. There was a Red Kite this morning for Chips to chase off. He was actually mainly relaxed washing in a tree while the Red Kite soared, only telling it off once

How joyous is this! A Yellowhammer belting out its song early this morning. The soundscape on the early walk was amazing. The Lapwings wouldn’t play ball and call while I was videoing but I think you can hear the Skylarks as well as the Crows!! #ukbirding
