Amongst the people and projects I'll be rooting for tonight, Owen Cooper in Adolescence, is up at the top. A jaw-droppingly astonishingly good performance. At the start of his career, you can tell he'll be a major star in the near future.

I can remember exactly 45 years ago bringing this back from the HMV shop, putting it on my decent stereo (Pioneer turntable, Rotel amp, Celestion speakers.) The songs were so exciting, and the sound leaped out into the room. It felt like another change in his approach, a particularly thrilling one!

So of course I felt moved to learn a little more about the Air Transport Auxiliary... and was rewarded with the amazing story of Nancy Miller Stratford, the last surviving ATA pilot. This American "Attagirl" ditched her disapproving fiancé to fly during WWII. She just turned 106 last month.
