Replaying Metroid Prime Trilogy on the original Wii reminded me why I always thought pointer controls are the by far the best settings for FPS on consoles. The Prime 4/Joycon pointer options are okay-ish, but on the Wii you're suddenly never missing shots anymore, it's unbelievable

this just reminded me - make sure you replace your 2032 battery in your Wii if you never have! they're found on the bottom of the console, where this little screw can be seen. It's used for the console's internal clock. I bet many of these batteries out there are nearing 20 years old!

Maybe controversial but Batman Arkham City is not hitting the highs of Arkham Asylum unfortunately. 😬 AA is more focused, with tighter story and zero-fat exploration. Arkham City was the step Batman needed to take at the time of the open world boom, but I prefer the tighter design of AA. Still good.

December 26 - 31 is a weird time period But it’s the perfect time to get halfway through like 7 games and then beat them all in January so you can say you “beat” 7 games at the start of 2026 It’s gamer math. It’s genius

most disappointing games played in 2025: Too Human: I enjoy certain things about it but they did not make all classes viable solo, so it became a slog to play. MvC Infinite: Love the Beyond mod but I can't get over the MCU-ified roster/bad story mode SHf: Love/hate relationship, still good.

A game you love that doesn’t get talked about enough: Gradius 3! It combines my love of space ships, power ups, and a build up of side scrolling split second decision making where one wrong move cost you the game. I spent so many hours playing this as a kid 🔥
