Good news in conservation! North Carolina’s General Assembly voted to appropriate recurring funding for wildlife crossings. Not only is North Carolina one of the most biodiverse states, it contains many species that aren’t found anywhere else (scientifically referred to as endemism).

Staff within DOI’s Office of the Chief Information Officer got an email today saying the CIO has left after only 1 year. No successor has been named & many staff reassigned from Bureaus to OCIO don’t have position descriptions over a year into “consolidation”. Stay classy & efficient, Interior! 🙄

Staff “consolidation” from Dept of the Interior bureaus to the Dept level has been confusing & highly inefficient. Folks are juggling multiple jobs, waiting for their new position descriptions, & unsure of supervisory structure almost a full year after the May 2025 announcement.
