It's interesting that the filmmakers backing or championing AI (Miller, Blum, Cameron) are those having trouble with ballooning budgets. Or in Blum's case needing to compete with the big spectacle movies but at a fraction of the cost. Creativity and innovation used to be the workaround.

There's a new Star Wars film out in 8 months time and I've seen more from this newer film that's not due out for another 20 months.

Adjusted for inflation Spirited Away cost $22 million to make. The Triplets of Belleville cost $16.5 million, Cartoon Saloon's Wolfwalkers cost $14.28 million, and Oscar winner Flow cost only $4 million. realistic Star Trek

Excited for this. Weaving is a legit star. And there's a sequence in the trailer that looks like it was lifted, shot for shot, from Baby Driver -- intrigued to see if they're really going to be so brazen.

Had the pleasure of seeing this fantastic short on the big screen at the Women X festival last year. Was an absolute stand out. Excited to see where a feature version goes.

Interesting to see the knock on effect Taylor Sheridan is having on the TV landscape. Untamed feels like Netflix chasing some of his audience. Their new show Hunting Wives (which inexplicably isn't available here) feels like Desperate Housewives but via Taylor Sheridan going by the trailer.

And the reason for this, for the people at the back is that nobody - literally nobody - is suggesting that pilates instructors should go unpaid, or that everyone has a godgiven right to attend pilates classes for free.

Another company in a race to be the worst.

Had some friends over last night for late night cocktails and FIGHT OR FLIGHT. We hooted. We hollered. What a delightfully insane symphony of cartoonish violence and action. It's a film that very, very much knows what it is and who it is for. Should have played the Genre fests. It would have KILLED.

The thing about the 1997 I Know What You Did Last Summer (which I am watching, obviously) is that it looks goddamn GREAT. Even random mid-budget teen slashers used to be lit like Conrad fucking Hall might wander on set and randomly start grading the DP.

There's a lot to like and appreciate with the new Superman film. Surprisingly timely too... a billionaire villain who is all about reckless science and sets up a quasi military camp outside a major city in order to hunt down an immigrant. How do they come up with this stuff?

I loved Guillaume Pierret's LAST BULLET, now on Netflix. If you're not familiar, this follows LOST BULLET and LOST BULLET 2 in an outstanding action/crime trilogy known for its incredible car chases (though the fist fights also rule).
