#LTHEchat A6 I am completely biased: I love our validated PGCert where staff gather together to learn, to share and discuss - to experience new things and reflect on them - and in the process be supported to complete a PSF Logbook. This is active, powerful CPD with a Fellowship route integrated.

That's why I tell all our PGCerters to collect those quotes during every teaching session - or afterwards! Not that I remember to do this myself! But it helps if your students write reflective learning logs - for there will be quotes in there to mine! #LTHEchat

#LTHEchat A3 The main challenges were remembering to give examples of practice rather than just talk about practice. This is something then to continually help our PGCerters with: Give an example of that - how do you know it worked - capture a quote from a student/a peer. They don't want to boast!

Provide effective & constructive briefing. Recognise that the PSF is sometimes an awkward fit with teaching in some disciplines. Ensure that it's a useful process for personal reflection & not just a hurdle to be jumped over to enhance a CV or gain promotion #LTHEchat 2/2

A2 as others have said the recognition of the award and therefore opportunities to disseminate best practice. It really helps having a good pedagogical background to be able to frame your work within. For me though learning to reflect was the key skills #LTHEchat

A1 sorry…late to the party tonight…gained Fellowship from F to SF to PF (2017, 2019, 2024) as a teaching focused academic. Currently working in a PS role supporting others to achieve theirs. For me applying for fellowship is about offering space to reflect on what people do in their roles #LTHEchat

We introduced a dialogic route this year and it was felt to be so rewarding for both applicant and reviewers - the reviewers in particular felt they gained far more for their own practice by listening and questioning others about theirs! #lthechat

A5 #LTHEchat this was a big part of my Times Higher article. Link fellowship to other initiatives about learning & teaching - eg a group might work together on a teaching innovation then could apply together for fellowship citing one another as collaborators. Ensure transparency of process 1/2

Another challenge is when leading large modules (for example, with more than 300 students): balancing pedagogical approaches and practical initiatives to make modules sufficiently challenging and authentic. Should the recognition differentiate between large and small modules? #LTHEChat

A5 Create Networks for specialist roles if institutions are large, point people to Aspiring Networks on Advance HE Connect if smaller institution. Invite those with Fellowship in to speak about their journey. #LTHEChat

A5 Also, mentoring opportunities (much like @aldinhe.bsky.social does for CeP) might help staff in different roles to consider the impact of their practice from different perspectives which can often be helped by having a mentor in a different role to your own #LTHEchat

#LTHEchat A1 My role & context shifted from being a Learning Developer in a widening participation uni to being a Staff Developer, explicitly placed as a reflective practitioner to work alongside students and now staff to make sense of, critique & succeed in HE & also become reflective practitioners
