it a a tough one today as i would happily drink all if those drams but im gonna go with the Velvet Fig 12, its continued the legacy if its forefathers (or mothers) as always thansk to @thewhiskywire.bsky.social for the letting me join in and to #wemyssmalts for the drams till next time #whisky

Peat Chimney P: salty, smokey, hokey cokey. i asssume this is what a pulled pork smore would taste like. looks atrocious but it tickles those taste buds #wemyssmalts

Peat Chimney N: bbq fish kind of smoke, while on a ferry - hopefully its from the kitchen and not the engines theres subtle sweetness that creeps in as well #wemyssmalts

Intrepid Mariner P: sugared almonds, some soor plooms, salted caramel. its a really easy to drink solid bunna however i know Bunna themselves love a silly price but 275 seems way off piste #wemyssmalts

Intrepid Mariner N: seems more subtle than the previous 2, grass forward, whiff of chocolate orange , peppermint candy canes #wemyssmalts

VelvetFig P: maybe its cuase i made some at the weekend but mars bar cakes, i dont actually think i know what fig tastes like but raisons, dried cranberrys & mixed nuts it a fruit and nut bar thats broken into a distillery #WemyssMalts

VelvetFig ive loved the previous 3 iternations of VF so lets so how this is N: straight off the bat theres freshly honeycombed honecomb (toffee) , melon (Cantaloupe or Gaiia) the inside of a pack of chocolate buttons #WemyssMalts

a ¼ past P: it was like the nose was playing a prank on me* some heft and chew to it, sweet burnt ends, chocolate gâteau, curly wurlies and tree bark ABV has coated my entire mouth and provided a pleasant tingle *i am getting new windows fitted and the house reeks of silicone #WemyssMalts

a ¼ past N: apples, Demerara sugar, lemon sponge cake its hiding the ABV well oh to be 25years (young) again #WemyssMalts

Right as Rain P: More Biscuit less fruit, Rye spice is at the forefront with the Malt making it a bit more savoury , Christmas ham, sour dough and salted butter "as slippery as a baggy up a border burn" #thebordersdistillery

Right as Rain N: Bright and lively. Lemon Peel, Sugared Almnonds, Apple skin and white grapes on a bed of biscuity malt #thebordersdistillery

Visited #theBordersdistillery back in January and picked up bottles of the Malt & Rye and The Long & Short of it (both didn't last long) so looking forward to trying their 3rd release Right as Rain tomorrow

Always worth having a nosey round Amazon for random pricing - not on sale but got the 25yo for 140 and the 26yo for 160 Prices jumped up the next day #whisky

Dram 4: Brume Doree its a step up on exctiment on the tongue P: Snap, Crackle, Pop! Cantaloupe melon, victoria sponge, lemon icing bofore pulling towards blackcurran and cherry jam then finally fading to a fina menthol note #SPEYWhisky #Scotch #Whisky #BePartOfTheDramfotainment

Dram 4: Brume Doree N: you really notice the step up in ABV lemon sherbert, cut grass, pear, a freshly opened back of tangfastics #SPEYWhisky #Scotch #Whisky #BePartOfTheDramfotainment

Dram 3: 15 yp Now this one is a bit chewier and has more body to it P: toasted malt loaf with orange marmalade, 5 spice and the chewed pencil taste. Might be cask char but also getting a subtle hint of smoke #SPEYWhisky #Scotch #Whisky #BePartOfTheDramfotainment

Dram 3: 15yo N: Mustier than the last 2, Damp Dunnage warehouse, this apple pie has spent a hefty amount of time in the oven but there is a little relief in the form of a dusting of icing sugar #SPEYWhisky #Scotch #Whisky #BePartOfTheDramfotainment

Dram 2: 12 year old P: apple pie carries through then morphs into darker fudgier notes, mollases, raisins, balsamic raspberry with a tickle of pink peppercorns another light and easy drinker #SPEYWhisky #Scotch #Whisky #BePartOfTheDramfotainment

Something a little different for tonight Tablet Old Fashioned

An interesting blend of closed distilleries I would say that this is a bit of a gimmick as while it's fine enough it is built on the reputation of it's components but that uniqueness has been blended away Cinnamon poached pears, clove, allspice. After eights and a light herbyness #whisky

While technically not Whisky it is delicious and would go brilliantly with some good vanilla ice cream
