Now that the children are 10, I've decided they are finally old enough to watch the film that traumatized me when I saw it in the theater at age 27...Toy Story 3.

I'm currently watching Kiss of the Spider Woman on Hulu. Finally, a modern movie musical that zooms out and actually lets us see the dancing! I'm loving it.

My theatre company just sort of announced their show for next year, and as someone who is almost never a fan of modern musicals based on movies...sigh.

The ten-year-olds rode their new 26" bikes up and down the street (twice) for the first time, and I managed to walk behind them the whole way with minimal ankle pain. A win on all counts (minus two falls off a bike).

I ate a whole bunch of crap this weekend on a mini-vacation. Time to be healthy again. Making lentil soup for dinner.

I just started reading Three Men in a Boat. For being almost 140 years old, this book is HILARIOUS. I'm sitting here cackling while reading it.

I am about to watch Stay Tuned with John Ritter with the ten-year-olds. I haven't watched it in about 30 years, but I remember loving it as a kid. They absolutely won't understand the references, but I bet I get more of them than when I first watched it.

I took three generations of family to see The Sheep Detectives today. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. 🐑🐏🐑🐏

Didn't take a picture of it, but I made cauliflower and tofu with a miso peanut sauce over rice after googling three ingredients that were in my fridge and finding a recipe that incorporated all three. And both my kids and my parents ate it. #Vegan dinner win.

In more annoying graphic novel news, my shipment of my friend Chad Anderson's graphic novel--which was supposed to arrive yesterday as well--was delayed until the end of next week. 😡

I read GALAXY: AS THE WORLD FALLS DOWN this morning. What a terrific story. The evolution of Taylor's character is full of heart, and that conversation with Superman is *chef's kiss.* I love Taylor and Kat's relationship and Taylor and Nia's friendship. 1/2

Avid reader problem: I have about 350 pages left to go in the novel I'm reading. I need to finish it before the 8th Dungeon Crawler Carl book comes out next week. I also have two graphic novels coming to me tomorrow that I want to read right away. Too many books, not enough time.

The children wanted an Oreo birthday cake with vanilla frosting and...well...after a fairly epic cake fail that I mostly rescued with double the amount of frosting I usually make, we're going to call it a "cookies and cream cake." It looks questionable, but it should taste fine. #vegan #baking

I started watching the filmed version of Merrily We Roll Along on Netflix tonight. I am continuing to love Daniel Radcliffe's post-franchise career trajectory.

Tonight, we finished season 7 of Doctor Who (including The Day of the Doctor, The Night of the Doctor, and the Time of the Doctor, all of which we watched tonight), said hello to Tom Baker, Paul McGann, John Hurt, and Peter Capaldi, and farewell to Matt Smith. This is some peak nerd parenting.

I am absolutely not an audiobook person--and I've already read all the books in print--but I am so thoroughly enjoying the Dungeon Crawler Carl audiobook that I might just listen to the whole series.

We closed Sweeney Todd last night, and I took a 3-hour nap in the middle of the afternoon today. Back to regular life tomorrow, I guess.
