The new union representing Portland City Council staff filed a complaint alleging Councilor Loretta Smith retaliated against and eventually fired a staffer for his role in union organizing.

What can go unnoticed when politicians are outed for the typical hypocritical line "I'm pro-labor, except here" is the real cruelty that position brings. A man was harassed then fired for bringing his kid into work, and taking an approved vacation which Smith initially promised as a paid holiday.
