Cried at work a bit (nothing serious, boss is upset due to personal stuff and we talked about how much the world sucks). I'm really sick of living in such a cynical age.

I legit think broader society needs a healthy body positivity movement that teaches people to both accept themselves for who they are, while learning on what they can improve (e.g. styling, haircuts, skincare, shoes, etc.) Because I've been thinking about kids smashing their faces with hammers.

2025 art report. Didn't draw as much, unfortunately, I've been busy with writing and life. Hopefully the next year will be different.

I've been working on my website and just... lurking the web revival community and there's one thing I've noticed. The profit incentive kind of destroyed the internet where it kind of forces in the long term to turn all content into lowest common denominator garbage.

Absolutely stupid and irrational thing, but I genuinely cannot get into either checkers or go. I can't explain it, but I don't get any joy if I'm doing well and I feel horrible for the rest of the day if I lose. I've noticed it and I'm struggling to explain it.

Hello
#portfolioday
I'm a gobliny 2D animator who enjoys drawing/animating little gifs of things I love in my spare time; I tend to keep my Bluesky account for just that but here's my last year's showreel with some of the stuff I do in my day job

Maybe I'm being conspiratorial, but we wouldn't even need chatbots if most search engines didn't heavily degrade in the past few years. Simple questions such as "what is the term for X system in Y field" now yield weird or unnecessary results.

I've been a bit pessimistic in the past... a few years with how humanity has been going, but I'm still happy that the internet exists in some form. People were violent, bigoted and chauvinistic since the dawn of time, but the internet allows you to see that there are exceptions to that.

New game is out, Raid Dogs. It's a light weight Card-Based TRPG about a Casino Heist. Very Tarantino inspired action.

I put on Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure while drawing and unfortunately it captured my attention. It kind of fascinated me how optimistic it felt in a way that it's hard to replicate nowadays. Optimism machine broke :(

I'm kind of stuck self publishing creative stuff, comics, zines, etc. While I love the idea of learning the ins and outs of the process (like misprinting the cover of a game), I genuinely appreciate good editorial feedback One thing I miss about working in concept art is the feedback from directors

My GF told me on a date that I tend to talk about high-brow topics, but then jump to childish media. Like referencing Batman when talking about the history of brutalist architecture. I love superhero comic books, videogames and other genre fiction, but as I get older I'm also critical 'em.

Out of curiosity, can someone recommend any wiki-like template that I can use offline or export to a neocities server or whatnot? It's just a pal of mine turned Dark Heresy rules into a wiki format for easier navigation, I'd love to do something like that for my own games.

Sometimes I wish I was obscenely wealthy so I could afford the travel costs and the connections to just travel the world and meet cool art friends I met during my years. Then again, after a certain point I noticed people with too much money tend to go a bit insane, so, yeah.

I'm trying to figure out precipitation patterns for Blackacre and I genuinely don't know how far I should take the accuracy of my world building. Part of me is anxious about being one of those terrible fantasy authors that just copy the map of the UK, but precipitation patterns seems a bit much.

Sorry for the low art output. Thesis is taking up a lot of my time. In the meantime I was thinking about nostalgia for GBA and DS games. Both are great platforms with A LOT of shovelware. But you really notice the limitations of the former when the DS arrived.

I've been having trouble drawing lately. In part because my PhD thesis is consuming a lot of my mental energy, in part because I've fallen down the rabbit hole of game design. As much as I love illustration work, that part of my brain doesn't mesh well with the gamedev one.

Back to the worldbuilding grind. Some of the other nations that exist in the world of Blackacre. The Aklen cross, the sword through a ring, is a common religious motif, thus it being represented in a lot of flags.

Spent the last weekend making this. I've been making an effort in listening to more concept albums instead of the same handful of songs on repeat.

Since I'm on a roll with hot takes. Monument Mythos is a better spiritual successor to Alan Moore's Watchmen than most actual Watchmen successor stories. Reframing the United States as the center of the universe/purgatory from Dante is both great satire and a work of surreal art.

Hot take, but while I love fantasy works with deep world building, the existence of said lore shouldn't take priority over creating engaging plots or having meaningful relationship the viewer can relate to. As you can guess, I've been binging Skyrim.

I really want to make a videogame based on Blackacre but I was struggling picking a genre and a format that I can reasonably finish on my own in a single lifetime. After a few sleepless nights, I drafted up a design document for a first-person adventure game inspired by System Shock 2.

Everything larger than 40 pages needs to be gluebound, but glue binding isn't great, especially if you have illustrations, while also jeopardising the longevity of the product.
