New paper showing a key component of the glutamate-glutamine cycle. NTT4 (SLC6A17) supplies Gln for the presynaptic production of Glu. Needed to sustain rapid ongoing excitatory synaptic transmission and has roles in memory formation and other behaviours.

Just published a little paper about the role of L-Proline in brain metabolism. It stimulates mitochondrial metabolism but doesn't seem to do it by being metabolised (under the conditions studied). Yet another unsolved mystery in brain energy metabolism... Scratches head....
