As A.I. becomes more common in the legal system, we need clear guardrails to protect clients’ confidentiality and ensure that real people, not algorithms, are making legal decisions. SB 574 does exactly that by setting responsible rules for the use of A.I. by attorneys and arbitrators.

Great to meet with Stanford’s CA Policy and Politics class today. We dug into the ins and outs of how Sacramento and the Capitol really work, talked legislative procedures, and discussed important issues like the budget, Care Court, and substance use disorder treatment.

Voter intimidation is not theoretical to me. I witnessed it firsthand at the polls in 1988 when bad actors tried to scare Latino voters away and influence an election. Right now, our state is facing serious threats from the Trump administration, and we will not treat them as idle or abstract.

Today, on Japanese Internment Day of  Remembrance, I want to honor the bravery and sacrifice of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. A unit formed nearly entirely of Nisei, second-generation Japanese Americans from Hawaii and internment camps across the mainland.

I had the privilege of standing with our local Teamsters 2010 to demand the CSU system deliver on its promises. Our workers negotiated in good faith at the bargaining table and deserve what was agreed upon.

On Ash Wednesday, we hear the solemn reminder: “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” A powerful call to humility and reflection and something all leaders should carry with them.
