As I put the final touches on my latest Moving Writers post, I realized that this week is the first time I’ll be in the same room as another MW contributor. @triciaebarvia.bsky.social and I are both at the Adolescent Lit Summit!

Bowling for Soup will be soundtracking the last burst of report card comment writing this evening.

My current tiny joy is withholding the next title that we’re doing in Lit class until we start the book next week. A couple of them want to know what it is so badly that they’ve insisted I tell them a book that it isn’t each day.

For years, I’ve been making my kids sit through geeky things I like. My oldest is always game. In return, I’m now being dragged into the anime world, cuz she loves it.

Rested. Recharged. Ready to go back to the classroom tomorrow.

Had to put my book down to avoid the fact that I think one of my fave authors is gonna kill a character I really like. Finally watched Heretic. I’m totally here for the character actor era of Hugh Grant.

A dystopia loving dad and his musical loving daughter finally sat down to watch O’dessa tonight. Killer songs, and lots of great visuals… just a little bit too much going on. 100% a vehicle for Sadie Sink though.

I’m so glad I was too busy to watch Yellowjackets until tonight, because I now have less time to wait until the next episode. That ending!!!!!!!

That noise you just heard was my gasp at the wonderful news that Neil Blonkamp is adapting Starship Troopers.

I often do my own thing when we’re out shopping as a family. Found a graphic t sale, bought each of us one… buying my youngest the same shirt she was wearing was pretty funny.

I have a little under an hour before I have to take my kid to a dance performance, and I just dropped into my cozy reading chair, got settled, and realized one book is on the other side of the room, the other upstairs. Le sigh.

A little early insight into tomorrow’s Moving Writers piece… I can’t seem to write the word ekphrastic without spelling it with an x instead of a k.

A colleague asked me if so could find an activity we had developed together. It took some digging, but I found it. A folder I kind of forgot about. And that folder was full of other stuff we’d developed, & I’d forgotten about.

My wife is out of town, so I could rip into two new episodes of Yellowjackets without guilt. So much I love about this show, but the music choices just have all of my heart.

My oldest has expressed some interest in photography, so I did a couple of searches, just to see what might be available. Algorithms are feeding me nothing but camera content now.

If you’re thinking that it’s the first Wednesday of the month, and there wasn’t a Mentor Text Wednesday post at Moving Writers today, it’s also the first week of the semester and your boy had a lot to do. It’s there now.

Laughing at my croak of a voice as my cold ravaged throat is feeling the effects of singing along to banger after banger on the drive back from swim practice. (Thankfully, no students tomorrow.)

I have such a love/hate relationship with this week because it’s hard to exist with a foot in each semester. Waiting on the last writer of this exam while prepping stuff for next semester.

Malanka usually means emcee duties. But it’s a great spot to watch my daughter dance. Prepped a stack of bad jokes, one liners and another stack as a prop, but there was no stalling needed. I guess I’m prepped for the spring concert.

Is it just me, or has Monday this week had 96 hours in it? Like, this is the Garfield origin story Monday. At least the calendar suggests that tomorrow is Friday.
