All new Safe Wings volunteers are invited to attend a general orientation presented via Zoom. You need only attend one session. As we near the end of the fall migration, we may not offer any more sessions this year. New dates will be set next spring. (February-March 2026)

✨ A Rare Admission! ✨ Some species are surprisingly uncommon in our care—even when they’re common in the wild. The ruffed grouse is one of them. Window collisions are often fatal for these birds, which means we rarely have the chance to help one recover. The last one we admitted was back in 2022!

Update: unfortunately we found out that the sweet little chimney swift had suffered critical injuries from a collision and passed away. Received a very nice note from the folks at the Wildbird center, and that they did everything they could, but to no avail. Sigh. @safewingsottawa.bsky.social
