This Labour Government has frozen rail fares for the first time in 30 years — and it’s welcome news. There’s still much more to do to improve our rail network — from better reliability to stronger accountability — but freezing fares is a move in the right direction.

Rottingdean Library matters — and local people have made that clear. Almost 3,000 residents took part in the citywide consultation on Brighton & Hove’s libraries. It’s a vital part of village life — and I’ll keep working with the Council, the Parish Council and campaigners to find a solution.

One of my main roles in the Cabinet Office is making sure procurement works for British businesses. So It was great to meet with a range of small and medium businesses to discuss how we can use public procurement to boost jobs, growth and support small businesses across the country.

We will remember them. Ahead of Remembrance Day this weekend, it was an honour to plant a poppy in Parliament's Constituency Garden of Remembrance on behalf of residents. Lest we forget.

After the attack on Peacehaven Mosque, I called for government funding for repairs and security. On Thursday, I was proud to stand with the Prime Minister and Home Secretary to deliver on that promise — part of £10 million funding for mosques around the country.

I promised Peacehaven’s voice would be heard after the sickening arson attacking. Today, I was delighted to be joined by the Prime Minister and Home Secretary to hear from those affected and to announce additional funding to help repair the mosque and improve security.

A privilege to attend Peacehaven Mosque yesterday. In the afternoon, I met with mosque leaders, community volunteers, and residents to help clean up and restore the site ahead of its reopening. In the evening, our community stood together in solidarity. We stand united against hate and division.
