#News: Today, in her annual report, the Federal Housing Advocate released a set of #recommendations to the federal government to better incorporate #HumanRights into housing initiatives.

People with disabilities have the same rights as everyone else — including equal access to housing. But, many people with disabilities still face serious housing barriers. We developed a framework that tracks housing outcomes and examines how governments are addressing these issues.

As Canada makes investments in housing and infrastructure, there is a significant opportunity—and responsibility—to ensure new barriers are not built into this country for generations to come.

Great to be in Halifax this week, with a focus on reinforcing that housing is a human right and a social determinant of health. I heard clearly from stakeholders these two issues must be addressed in tandem.
