Glorious morning for a run - lovely and fresh... and I unexpectedly smashed my goal of running 5km in under 30 mins! After taking into account 3 seconds of fumbling with my watch to get it to stop recording - ran the 5km in 29mins 59 seconds! Well chuffed with that 😃

Someone was trying to take a portrait of their two fave Chickens, and this happened.

Yay - managed to get a new PB* at Prestatyn Nova Parkrun this morning! 30mins 43 seconds, and an age grade of 47.6% Well chuffed! I have a goal of reaching a 30 min 5km by the end of October, so that is looking achievable now! *PB for that course - and fastest 5km time for many years!

Went for a sports massage yesterday, was like running on new legs today, knocked a whole 2 minutes off last week's Parkrun time- today's time was 32mins 23 secs. Well chuffed with that!

Walked into Prestatyn this morning, then did the Parkrun for the 1st time, and my 1st parkrun in over a decade! 34 minutes 29 seconds, which I'm happy with as a baseline, especially as I somehow managed a sprint finish for the last 200 metres. I came 177th overall, and 7th in my age category.

This charming gentleman's 4th birthday today.

Planned a tempo run this morning - ran the first 2.5 km in 15 minutes which is fast for me. Then had to run walk the rest as I had gone out a bit too fast. Still - got my 5km time down to 33 minutes, 2 minutes faster than my usual time. 30 min 5km by October is my first goal, so on course!

Saddles were developed around 800 BCE but stirrups weren’t invented until 1,000 years later (in 2-300 CE). And over 1,500 years later still, in the US, came the invention of a small lamp (attached to the pommel) for reading maps while riding a horse at night. It was called saddle light navigation.

This was an amazing collaboration to be part of. Mat Smith from Mortality Tables asked me to take around 100 field recordings he'd made during a period of turmoil in his life - a moment he called his 'Lost Weekend'. This was cathartic collaboration between and helped me move my music forward.

Did Fartlek while running this morning - which is not as bad as it sounds! Such a great word: Swedish for 'speed-play', it means playing with running at different speeds for short sections of the run. Great fun.

Third 5km run without stopping, 35 mins so not setting any records just yet 🤣 New trainers scared the seagulls, but I escaped unscathed!

Slow 5km again this morning, proof it wasn't a fluke. Now to start preparing a training plan and some goals to keep me at it until the habit forms again. It's good to be back out there.

Watched 'Priscilla, Queen of the Desert' last night with Mrs J, and just saw the news that Terence Stamp has died.

First full 5km run without stopping in over 5 years! 😃 It was deliberately slow at just over half an hour, but then my best 5km race time was 27 minutes and that was more than 10 years ago when I was still in my 30s, so not bad considering! 🤣

Just went for a walk along the newly re-opened west promenade in Rhyl, and have to say they've done a great job. The path used to be too narrow and you were always fighting to get past people or facing cyclists, now it is much wider with plenty of space for everyone.

Just had to leave a night out watching a Bob Marley tribute because the background hubbub set my tinnitus into overdrive.

I don't want giant bread, thanks. Besides, it won't fit in the toaster.

Decided yesterday that it's time to start running again. Ran 5km this morning, first run post-covid and ankle injury. Got 2km without stopping, which is far better than expected. Ran/walked the rest, finished in about half an hour, so happy with that.

Not done a collaborative painting for a while. One person does the backwash, then the group paint consecutively, the one with the brush does what they will, and it's done when it's done. The end result is not important, the process of letting go is everything. This one is a three-hander.
