Hello. I am the cohost of Babcom Podcast. I sometimes do recaps of old sci-fi. When I get fired up I do play by plays of historic events. You may remember me from some stories as the Donner Party and the Andes Rugby Plane Crash Survivors.

So that's it for the Donner Party. I have one more dishonorable mention. Because sometimes time has its way of finally catching up to karma houdinis. Lansford Hastings never received any sort of comeuppance for his role in the whole disaster. Namely the Hastings Cutoff. 1/10

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue Honorable Mention: Jonathan and Elizabeth (the infant not the mom) Graves. They get an honorable mention for surviving long enough to be rescued. Unfortunately they never recovered from their ordeal, dying soon after rescue.

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: Nancy Graves. Perhaps no survivor of the Donner Party suffered as much PTSD as Nancy. Only a little girl who became temporary matriarch when her mother died at Starved Camp. And then she learned the Breens were feeding her from her mother and brother. 1/2

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: Lovina Graves. In 1856 she married John Cyrus. They had children as one did. And she died in 1906 in Oakland only a few months after the shaky thing.

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: Eleanor Graves. Eleanor married Will McDonnell in 1849. They had a ranch in Knights Valley. They had ten children, although four died young. They also shared custody of Sarah's youngest daughters with Mary after Sarah passed. She died in 1894.

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: William Graves. He went back to Illinois shortly after his rescue, but then he came back in 1849 along with some other Gold Rush prospectors. He made a stop just over the pass and went off alone, presumably to find his mother's hidden stache of coins. 1/5

Babylon 5 S3E13: Sic Transit Vir. CW: war crime talk Zach is the worst guy on the show after Lennier. Zach is not one of those "didn't see nothing" cops like Garibaldi (who is a bastard in his own way, but at least he isn't a snitch). Zach complains there's too many Narns on B5. 1/8

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: Mary Graves. Remember Ed Pyle? If you don't, he asked Virginia Reed to marry him. She passed. So he asked Mary Graves. She agreed. Probably to give her sister Sarah, deep in debt to Sutter and Reed, a financial break. It didn't last for long... 1/3

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: Sarah Graves Fosdick. A young widow. The now matriarch of an orphaned family of siblings. She did odd jobs in San Jose and Sonoma before teaching in Napa Valley. Then she married again to Will Ritchie. They had two sons survive to adulthood. 1/3

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: Simon Murphy. Lived long enough to marry, have kids, move back east, fight traitors in the Civil War (yes, he was Union), and die at a young age like his mother and sister in 1873 in Tennessee.

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: William Murphy. Prospered in Marysville as an attorney, married, had seven children. Probably the most successful of the Murphy clan with the exception of Naomi Pike (who married money and then lived long enough to lose it in 1929). He died in 1904.

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: Mary Murphy. 15 year old Mary Murphy wrote back to family. "I hope i shall not live long for I am tired of this troublesome world and I want to go to my mother." She was left with few options as were the majority of young, orphaned girls. 1/4

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: Naomi Pike. She outlived all but Isabella Breen and was the only surviving child of Harriet Pike Nye. She went on to a long life. She was widowed twice: the second husband left her very rich... and then poor in 1929 when the market crashed. She died in 1934.

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: Harriet Pike. She survived her brother in law accidentally shooting her husband. She survived the Forlorn Hope. One of her daughters was rescued in the First Relief. The other died. Harriet did what many of the single women without prospects did. She married. 1/2

Babylon 5: S3E11. "Ceremonies of Light and Dark" In the post battle afterglow, B5 still has to deal with some lingering Nightwatch dicks who treat their mission as if it were a Holy War. So of course their team includes a dude who is good at torture. They have a plan like a Cylon. 1/7

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: Sarah Foster. She and William Foster stayed together until his death. She remained in San Francisco with her children and family until 1906. This thing happened in 1906, perhaps you heard of it... It got all shaky, and then it got all burny. 1/2

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: William Foster. After his participation in the Third and Fourth Reliefs, Foster and wife Sarah, the eldest of the Murphy clan, had two children in Yuba County. Then apparently they moved to Minnesota for some reason. They had two more children here. 1/2

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: Philippine Keseberg. The women of the party comforted her when it appeared she had lost all her children and her husband. She was young enough to remarry and have more. Well, it turned out her husband survived, unfortunately for her. 1/3

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: Jean-Baptiste Trudeau. The 16 year old was one of two hired men to survive. As many of their youth will do, he had a reputation of telling lurid tales of "eating babies," until he himself had to admit that was an over the top recollection. 1/2

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: Doris Wolfinger. The wealthy, young, German widow of the married a fellow German a few months after rescue. They apparently built the first brick house in Sacramento. They had a brewery that apparently burned down. She apparently died circa 1861.

Donner Party Survivors Epilogue: William McCutchen. The man who survived by being Charles Stanton's wing man but was too sick with fever to go back, Big Bill and his wife Amanda moved first to Sonoma and then San Jose. In 1853 he won the election for Sherriff. 1/3
