This is why I’m being annoying right now on Bluesky spreading information, but in some ways it feels like preaching to the choir. Use what those of us here in Minnesota are posting, and show it to your friends and families. Especially your Fox News loving parents. They are being lied to.

Read that again. Because of FEDERAL harassment. Schools. Are these the same guys who so desperately couldn’t handle education being halted during the pandemic lockdowns? Those guys? The same ones that suddenly insist they have the right to wear masks after all? Those guys? 😠

Resigning is great, but I have very little faith that Renee Good is going to get justice during this administration, especially since they are now trying to investigate HER. Fortunately there is no statute of limitations on murder.

In case you need additions reasons to boycott Target… Also they’re firing any of their employees who film 🧊 activity and are allowing their own employees to be hauled out and kidnapped. There are plenty of other stores and restaurants in MN standing up and doing the right thing. This is a choice.

“The claim is that recruiting is up, but there is also dread that the gung-ho types that ICE and the Border Patrol are bringing in have a propensity towards confrontation and even violence.” Personal theory- they are hoping an ICE agent gets killed so that they can unleash the insurrection act.

This is awesome.

Stay classy, airlines. I’ve really had it with basically all corporations. Incidentally, don’t fly in or out of Minnesota (or probably RST) if you’re at risk for deportation or profiling. Ugh (Minneapolis city council also said the same for people just wanting to leave their houses right now).

Can confirm. They’ve swarmed all of the grocery and big box stores, the hospitals, the banks, they are ramming cars at stop lights and going door to door with battering rams. Many of our restaurants are closed. No one is out walking their dogs, even in our upscale neighborhoods. Everyone is on edge.

This gave me a little smile. Minnesotans never lose their creativity and senses of humor, even in the faces of oppression. Stay salty and walk like a penguin.

I keep writing posts this morning and then deleting them. I don’t have words for this moment. Minnesota is under siege and it’s worsening by the day. Please don’t forget about us, please continue to share the videos of what’s happening, and please be kind to our immigrants. They are not ok.

I hesitantly ordered grocery delivery today. I was torn between getting money to an immigrant family (via generous tips) or potentially endangering one. When a sweet immigrant arrived, I looked him in the eye and told him to be careful. He put his hand on my arm and thanked me, tears in his eyes.

Called it. Irked that women want to serve missions, they lowered the age so that they’ll go straight after high school, come back and immediately get married and pregnant, no college necessary. The church is a major proponent of the pronatalist movement and it’s incredibly gross and regressive.

Target continues to disappoint and I continue to boycott, which is a sacrifice, since I live 5 minutes from one. Also still boycotting: Amazon, Home Depot, Disney/Hulu, Paramount, McDonalds, Hobby Lobby, Hilton, and various local chains that many of you wouldn’t recognize. Probably forgetting some.

Things like this make me wonder what my life would have been like if I had been born into a religion that actually lived what they professed to believe instead of one that cared more about control and patriarchy and their coffers than actually loving their neighbors and taking care of the stranger.

I really love my fellow Minnesotans. All of them. Especially our dear immigrants.

Listening to the newest recording of Ragtime, which has just been revived on Broadway. I played Mother in the show years ago, and this remains my most favorite musical of all time (and this is my field, so I have a broad selection).

Fun fact, I buy these beans by the case and every Sunday we make a huge pot of beans for the week. My husband, who in addition to being an MD has a PhD in Nutrition, has been on the bean kick our entire marriage. Rancho Gordo beans are the best we’ve ever tasted. Even my teen can’t get enough.

This is the mood here in town. When I say we’re being swarmed, I really mean we’re being swarmed. Minnesotans are feeling like we’re under an occupation.

Our doorbell just rang and hubs and I both looked at each other with scarcely contained panic. My heart felt like it stopped. It was UPS. I hate this so much. Stochastic terrorism. Our state is a powder keg right now.

I broke both pinky toes the same way, running past a bean bag and snagging them. I got thrown into a swimming pool and broke 3 ribs hitting the water, and two months ago I was lying in another bean bag minding my own business when hubs fell off of a step and landed on my ankle, tearing 2 ligaments.

House is clean, laundry is about to be all folded and put away, groceries get delivered this afternoon, I remembered to eat breakfast, meals are all planned, teen is cozily reading, and I just landed 4 huge ARCs to read and review. The world may be falling apart, but look at us functioning today.

Years ago we asked my MIL to fill out a book answering questions about her life. She gushed about how her personal philosophy is to never ever take no for an answer. As a result she railroads everyone in the family, has zero respect for boundaries, and has worn out her welcome everywhere.

This. January 6th, like Covid, is still very much ongoing. We have not fully processed or healed from either, and until we do, there will be lasting consequences.

I walk away from my phone for a few hours and Hilton caved. I was so excited to be proud of them. Nope. We just can’t have nice things anymore.

After my lunchtime doom scroll, I feel compelled to make the point that yes, this is all in violation of the constitution, and no, it doesn’t matter in the slightest if no one is willing to ENFORCE it. Without the rule of law, all we have are words on a page.

This is fascinating. In college I was forced by my acting and voice teachers to trade my southern accent in for Standard American Dialect or fail their classes. It still comes out when I’m talking to someone else who is southern, when I say certain words, or when I get really angry.

Apparently I’m languishing this weekend. Every time hubs sees me, I’m staring into space. We did manage to take down Christmas today, but really, how does one function amid *waves broadly?!?*

It’s ok to take time off from doomscrolling to disassociate for a while. The craziness will still be here when you get back. We introduced our teen to Three Men and a Baby today, I took a long bubble bath in a nice dark bathroom, and I’m getting ready to read for the rest of the evening. It’s ok.

Just cancelled Paramount Plus because I don’t subscribe to capitulating propaganda, and I told them as much, but I paid for a whole year, and they don’t refund, so I’m still stuck with it until October. It’s fine. I’ll catch up on Tracker and NCIS in the meantime. Zero news from that network now.

I’ve been thinking about this all afternoon, and I think I’ve settled on the unabridged Grimm’s Fairy tales.

This year on Bluesky I wrote over 95,000 words. And you guys read them. You love me! You really love me!

I think maybe I understand why I woke up furious this morning and then had a mini meltdown. New Years is supposed to feel hopeful. This year, the hope is hard to come by, the doubling down and horridness is worsening, and none of our efforts seem to be effective.

Whelp, just watched the mostly MAGA coded enshitification of the Rose Parade and it made me so cranky. They’ve literally ruined everything. Not happy so far with the start of 2026. I’m off to make my lucky black eyed peas to see if they’ll help.
