Today has been a long week.

Our analysis shows that, looking at just the projects terminated so far, a whopping 29% are related to HIV/AIDS and 24% to trans health. 17% are related to COVID-19.

NIH-funded LGBT+ health work has been obliterated. This denies “a small but real percentage of the population answers to critically important questions about their health”, says Shirley Tilghman. “You cannot eliminate a segment of the population by executive order, but you can harm them greatly.”

I generally find that creative things help me cope - like with the loss of all of my NIH grant funding. So, with help of chatGPT, I wrote a movie pitch about a group of queer and trans faculty who lose their funding and the lengths they will go to to re-fund it. Will add some snippets below.

The field of gender and sexual minority (LGBTQ) health is being erased. Hundreds of ongoing NIH grants being immediately terminated. Deb Umberson and my decade long longitudinal study on marriage and health joined the termination list last night.
