Geomatics assistant professors Ezra Che and Chase Simpson, discussed the growing challenge of attracting young talent to the geospatial industry. They highlight the importance of innovative strategies and educational initiatives to engage the next generation of geospatial professionals.

Christopher Higgins, professor of structural engineering at Oregon State, said a lack of protective measures are likely more to blame than structural deficiencies. “The main way you avoid ship impact, especially with large container ships, is with tugboats,” said Higgins.

Alan Fern, professor of computer science, AI, and Robotics at Oregon State added that there are many companies in China, the US and Europe that are developing their own humanoid robots but says there’s no “clear leader” in the industry at this point.

What if chatbots could help doctors diagnose rare diseases? 🤔 A team of Oregon State University students and faculty, along with a rare disease expert at the Institute for Systems Biology (ISB), have created a chatbot for medical professionals called Radiant.
