Just laughing to myself at the guy on FB telling me to walk instead of complaining about the state of snow removal on the winter bike network, and then telling me the city does a bad job at snow clearance on sidewalks. Like....huh?

I have no respect for the people who can't take 5 mins to brush snow off their cars. Literally displaying they don't care about safety. Everytime I see a snow covered car, I point and say "Look at that lazy asshole!"

I'd bet big money, that in 90% of "the cyclist came out of nowhere!" incidents, the cyclist was actually there the whole time, the driver just couldn't be bothered to move their eyes or their heads to actually look around their vehicle.

#ottskate conditions report! The ice is getting pretty brittle with the volume of skaters out there today. Fifth to Bank is good, Bank to Bronson is fair, Dow's Lake to Carleton is mostly good. Today was pretty much a perfect winter day, complete with Digby hellos!

Oh, right, Scott EB: we get scraps of bike lane between Churchill and Holland. Most of it is blocked by snow. Between city plows, private plows, and residents, I wouldn't call this bike lane well maintained. Hoping like hell the city does snow removal soon. @en.ottawa.ca

After 4 days of some of the most challenging winter riding in the 8 years I've been doing it, I can say unequivocally, I have no interest in gravel or mountain biking. Smooth pavement and light tail winds forever. #FrostBike

It didn't rain for most of the late summer/fall, so it's just gonna snow continuously all winter?? Ugghhhhhhh

I was able to ride on a nicely snow packed side street tonight. Gave me a tiny idea of what it must be like to ride in Oulu, Finland, where they care about people on bikes, and have built over 900km of safe, connected, groomed cycling routes. #Autowa could never. @mayormarksutcliffe.bsky.social

All I'm saying, is that I manage to keep rotating sets of lights charged and packed with me every single day, but these dumb fuckers can't manage to turn their vehicle's lights on in a snow storm.

@en.ottawa.ca @mayormarksutcliffe.bsky.social I give a grade of D- for the snow removal on the Scott St bike lanes and sidewalks today. Bike lanes that are a mere 8km of the "prioritized" winter cycling network. It would have been an F, but I think there was one plow pass on either side.

I'm pre-emptively annoyed at tomorrow's weather. This may have something to do with the much annoying last hour of my day before I got home. But also because I really enjoy riding safely, and not wearing all the winter clothing. I'd take the cold without the snow, tho.
