This weekend I finished restoring the light on the Daytona USA cabinet I picked up earlier this summer. Below are before and after photos. It had corroded metal, spray paint, and a dead light inside. After a lot of buffing, rust removal, metal bending, and a new light, it's looking pretty good! :D

I'm restoring a Daytona USA twin cabinet for the first time. It's been an adventure. I was able to get it completely disassembled and am cleaning the heck out of it. I LOVE that the subwoofer for the game is mounted directly under the seat (the plastic is the subwoofer).

The revised Saturn controller may be my favorite controller of all time. It was perfect in its simplicity, and a 6-button layout just freakin' works.

I LOVED Daytona USA on the Saturn, despite its choppy graphics and lower frame rate than the arcade version. When Sega Rally came out, I expected something similar. Oh boy, was I in for a surprise. Sega did an amazing port with it and kept the arcade's 60 FPS and the driving mechanics were perfect.

Restoring a Daytona USA cabinet and was surprised to see that the main board, though being ~30 years old is in pristine condition. That metal housing kept every spec of dust off of it all of these years.

Oh man, just when I think I know for sure which one I'd go back to, I think about the other amazing games in other decades. But I think the 90's would be the sweet spot. Early 2000's were also on-point.

I 3D printed a controller grip for my R36S emulator. Turned out pretty decent! Now it feels like I'm holding an Xbox controller instead of an oversized GameBoy.

We're a year away from the GameCube and Xbox being considered "retro" gaming consoles. Also, the PS2 is already there! ACK! My back!

For me, the original Tecmo Bowl (not Super Tecmo Bowl) will always hold a special place in my heart. My dad and I would play this game together all the time. The only rule was that no one could be the Raiders.

Apogee's amazing "Hocus Pocus" was a charming platformer created by Mike Voss. Here's a picture of how the game originally looked (top) and then after a graphics makeover toward the end of its development. It's an incredible transformation!

I stumbled across one of my favorite games growing up: 3-D Ultra Pinball, by Sierra Games. This game was so much fun, and better than Space Cadet pinball included with Windows (though that was really good too).

As a kid with a Genesis, and then a Sega CD, and then a Saturn, this generation of games blew me away. 3D gaming came home from the arcades and it was incredible.
