Not even a 1$ a book. Not that artists have ever been paid well (except celebrities) but this further cements how much the devaluing of arts and humanities in favor of STEM is destroying our culture. If you think society can survive without culture… I hope you have some good apocalypse skills.

Writing 50 word stories is fun :) The burning man takes a seat. Time to enjoy my sandwich he thinks as he cools his flaming tongue in his coffee. He opens his lunchbox. Within a few seconds the buns have turned into toast and the cheese has melted, just as he likes it. Thank God it's Fryday.

For me, the most incredible artefacts from the ancient world are the letters people wrote on clay tablets and sent to one another over thousands of years in Mesopotamia, going back to more than 5,000 years ago. They contain recognisable humanity, warmth and humour. Here's a thread of my favourites.
