For the record, I was an advisor to Ed Miliband's Labour Party on tax policy, I strongly support a wealth tax, and I am aware of a viable and fully costed proposal to implement one in the UK.

Here is the proposal of an incredibly eminent group of UK economists and tax experts for a wealth tax. It can hardly be described as unicorn or fantasy economics.

What Polanski has said is that taxing the assets of the richest *1%* would enable the government to *fund universal free childcare, special needs education and rural bus routes.* That's a million miles from 'Sensible' Jack Dromey's grotesque misrepresentation.

Amazing interview attacking Polanski as a "fantasist" "selling unicorns". But Polanski has not said "squeezing a tiny elite of billionaires will pay for everything that we want and everything that we need.” He has simply argued, as many tax economists do, for a wealth tax. So who is the fantasist?
