started a new challenge for myself to draw a scene every week. i feel like i need to start practicing the things i want to draw vs studying how to draw them. so with that being said... the scene of this week is a fight scene!

more 3 value portrait studies these studies are absolutely changing the game in how i view painting and drawing in general. the replication looks complex, but it's actually VERY doable, especially when starting with simpler shapes. can't reccomend these enough.

black and white value studies came across a youtube video that i'll link in a comment but kinda changed the game for me. reducing everything in an image to just black and white really helped train my eye to see just the essentials. will be doing these a LOT more.

value background study i actually really enjoyed doing this study. started by blocking out the darkest values and move upwards. also tried keeping the shapes as big as possible and progressively added detail as values got lighter. but how do i translate this to colors... #artstudy #background

I've always been the type to give up on something if I didn't have an innate knack for it. If it didn't make sense from the get go, I would lose interest and move on. That is, until I started drawing. I complain a LOT about things not making sense and about having to-

Legend of Zelda Samurai AU the more i doodle these ideas, the more i make up more brainrot lore here's what i got so far: zelda is raised as a farmgirl by impa. the triforce of wisdom is connected to the mark in her forehead and allows her to see visions of the future. 1/2

LOZ AU ganon is a warlord trying to seize power since his lands are wartorn and impoverished. link and zelda are childhood friends who grew up in a small village together. zelda was sent away at birth by the emperor because of the coming war. link dreams of becoming a samurai.

clothing studies from stream while working on these, the process felt clunky and the overall drawing felt unrefined. but looking at them now, they don't look bad at all! in fact, they look a little different from my usual stuff. maybe the background studies are helping. #rkgk

yet another background study honestly, my appreciation for background artists has grown exponentially while doing these. watching princess mononoke today made me think, "my god, these backgrounds must have taken so much work." improved - values to do - shaping, texturing and.. values.

another background study, this time with a person! i'm finding that while some methods like adding a bunch of values and carving a shape out of that can work in some situations, but i don't think it works if i'm not confident with values to begin with. values values values...

background studies from stream i think texture and values have been a big issue for me when doing these, so i'll be focusing on them more going forward. doing these feels like a sidequest that helps further the main story.

lately i've been experimenting with lineart. i typically use two different pen/brushes but i tried using them both for these drawings of my OC, ox. i feel like with the things i'm learning about hatching, i'm getting closer to a style of drawing i really like.

bust study again I'm still unsatisfied with the hatching I'm doing lately. I think the values are okay, but the hatching doesn't feel.. Clean? Some advice I got from @gebsart when hatching was form first, lighting after. I'm excited to give that a try.

bust studies i tried capturing the different gradations of shadow using hatching but it's harder than i thought it would be. i have to have more control when using the pen. tried mapping areas to simplify the shadows for the second one. needs more work.
