i think this is cool! so far this month i've busked in my neighborhood 5 times, playing 90% original songs for ~8 hrs total, +5 hrs combined setup/travel. in those 13 labor hrs i've received $170 in donations from strangers & neighbors—that's $13/hour. i've been paid less for less enjoyable work!

To the settler-colonial episteme, relating to others outside of the scientistic taxonomical categories applied to you is tantamount to "contagion." Or put more snappily: to white supremacy, relating is contagion.

so many similarities to the 19th century. this isn't solely a trump problem. this is a capitalist settler colonialism problem. surprise at this moment is an artifact of US genocide denialism.

it's never just about rewinding but about what we want to build today against both colonialism's consumption and annihilation of the planet and the parts of societies before it that we cannot or do not want to return to.

this thread raises some interesting points about what i'll call "originality" in art. i'm compelled by the critique of replicability with ai, & i also feel tension against the plagiarism framework in this context. no snark intended—read on if you're curious.
