I told this super nice guy at the hospital about the keys & he came by my office this afternoon with my keys. He somehow went to the hotel and got them out of my car. So I ubered back to the hotel after work & the car wasn’t there. He drove it to work and didn’t tell me. 🤣

And I woke up this morning to find that I locked the keys in the car. Everything is fine…

I sat mindlessly in my car in the hotel parking lot for two hours before going inside after work. Just in case you were wondering how this week is going.

I tripped and fell on the sidewalk walking into work today. Bad news: My surgerized shoulder is killing me like it took away weeks of healing. Good news: My wrist & both knees hurt, too, so they’re a good distraction!

How come NASA can send people to the moon and back and know exactly when and where they will be… But somehow no one can figure out where Carmen Sandiego is?!?

Notice how the most celebrated and successful space mission in *decades* was run by at least 50% “DEI hires”—not all white men? And not even all Americans. Maybe diversity *is* strength . . .

LA Shenanigans, Day 2: No trip is complete without a visit to the happiest place on earth! We spent the day at Disneyland and managed 23 attractions in 14 hours despite it being sold out. Such fun!

LA Shenanigans, Day 1: I was able to stop by LA to see Cass for two days on my way to a new job. We walked her dogs around a local park and had a tasty breakfast at The Corner Store!

Who’s ready for a timeline cleanse? It’s “Gretchen Went to the Zoo Day”! This time it was a trip to the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens!

My favorite thing is when you stop petting a dog and they put their paw on your arm like, "we're not done here."

I just bought a ticket to the Olympics in 2028! So far it’s just one event (sooo expensive), but I’ll get to go and knock that off my bucket list!

Spending a couple of days with my bestie in LA. I got here today and we settled in for moving night. Her dog, Yeti, is protecting us from the scaries!

Pack Updates: Good News: Luigi’s biopsy results came back and it’s not pythiosis. He has lymphangiectasia. Most likely an inflammatory bowel disease. We’re starting Prednisone. 1/

Flew up to MI today to work - first shifts since surgery. This is way more physically taxing than I remember just two weeks ago! Sigh.

He’s awake! Staying at the hospital tonight and I can hopefully pick him up in the morning. They expect biopsy results in about a week. ❤️

Liver looks okay. Ileum is very thickened and there are some enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes. Biopsies done and they are going to start closing. 🤞🏻

Doing well so far. His spleen has a weird shape but appears healthy. He initially thought it may need to come out based on the ultrasound, but says it can stay.

I’ve been using a wedge pillow for sleep post-op and every time we go to bed #ThumperTails tries to hog it. 🤣

Between surgery recovery, a cold, and worrying about the pups I have been feeling pretty crummy, So today I headed back to the gym for the first time in 1.5 months. I’m exhausted already, but it felt soooo good!

Seriously every time I do PT it gets more painful. Is this normal!? I’m dreading doing it, and I’ve never been like this with any of my other injuries.

The surgeon is out of town but he is tentatively scheduled for Friday morning. Many prayers requested.

Time travel

For my next trick, this afternoon I will spend 4 hours cooking a meal that the recipe says should only take 30 minutes.

I started the day with one PT appt, one radiology test, one lab draw, and one vet appt planned. That took 10 hours. I still have so much to do but I’m exhausted. 😩

His ultrasound has severe intestinal thickening. Could be inflammatory bowel disease, a fungal infection, or cancer. She’s hoping to get him to see a surgeon tomorrow for a biopsy. 💔

Trump doesn’t like dogs. That should have been enough for everyone.

#LovableLuigi has been losing a lot of weight and is refusing to eat. Currently at the vet for the 3rd time in 8 days doing more testing. $2500 in and so far tests are normal but he won’t eat and he’s skin and bones. Please send prayers and happy thoughts for my sweet boi. 💔

I had my first PT appointment this morning and OUCH.

Mom left this AM, I’m stuck in the sling, I have two sick dogs, and I have a wicked cold. So, yes, these brownies are dinner and I will FIGHT YOU.

NYC Shenanigans, Day 6: Mom and Kyra left this morning, then I treated myself to Carlo’s Bake Shop, walked for a couple of hours in Central Park, saw a matinee of “Every Brilliant Thing,” walked around Little Italy for dinner, and saw “Death Becomes Her” to cap off a wonderful trip!

NYC Shenanigans, Day 5: We started the day with a walk in Central Park, followed by Serendipity again (Kyra’s favorite), a visit to Artechouse, a trip to Brooklyn for pizza, then we saw Operation Mincemeat!
