Columbia canceled my class on Race and Media, but I'm teaching it anyway. All thanks to people power and community support-- especially from you all on Bluesky! Happy to announce I'll be teaching Race Media and International Affairs 101 online-- hosted by D.C.'s MLK Jr. Memorial Library!

I am visiting the US for a program themed on empowering women in STEM. We have met with incredible people around the country championing equity & inclusion. It is heartbreaking to see how deeply sad & scared they are in the wake of last week's election. How is it such division and hatred wins?

I had to sign up for roadside assistance recently and today when I got my membership card in the mail I was initially mad they assumed my title was Miss (companies ALWAYS do this). But then I remembered the person on the phone asked me if an adult was there because they thought I was a child π

Today for the first time in a long time I took annual leave for my Birthday and spent the day with my favourite people (including my twin) hiking amongst the wildflowers. The wildflowers here in WA are incredible! πΈπΌπΏ

NEW PAPER: I have discovered that up to half of all black holes that shred a star "burp" material years after the initial event and turn on in radio!!! No one was expecting this, and we don't really understand why this might be! π€©ππ§ͺ

Ubiquitous Late Radio Emission from Tidal Disruption Events
We present radio observations of 23 optically-discovered tidal disruption events (TDEs) on timescales of about 500-3200 days post-discovery. We detect 9 new TDEs that did not have detectable radio...

Friends, tomorrow is Wear It Purple day - an annual day we wear purple to acknowledge, support & celebrate young LGBTIQA+ people. It won't change the world, but it does send a signal to young LGBTIQA+ folks that we see them! Wear something purple + share pics, I'll signal boost! Pass it on! π³οΈβππ³οΈββ§οΈ

I was visiting my sister the other weekend who rents a small house with a friend deep in Melbourne suburbia. Over the course of 4 hours on a Saturday I watched not one but BOTH of her neighbours mow her front lawn at different times π Friendly neighbours are the best β€οΈ

When I first started my PhD I was blown away by my supervisors ability to pick a radio source from coordinates alone Today I'm glad to report, I was able to be that person for a PhD student and correctly guess their source from coordinates alone. I'm both proud and a little concernedπ
