This letter by 1953 Everest Expedition member George Lowe was recently discovered in a second-hand book and kindly donated to our collections by Paul Speight . In it, Lowe writes to an acquaintance, Pamela, offering advice on photography ahead of her trip to the Antarctic.

#OTD in 1928, Dorothy Pilley completed one of the most dangerous first ascents of the C20, the Dent Blanche by its overhanging northwest ridge. At one point she and her 3 fellow climbers had to swing out from under a stone eave, above 3,000 feet of thin air. She was wearing the wrong boots...1/
