REALLY enjoyed seeing "Jaws" again on a big screen for its 50th (!!!!) anniversary re-release this weekend. Picked the closest theater to my apt — Village East by Angelika on 2nd Avenue. Saw an afternoon screening, and the crowd was into it. Not a wasted moment in the film 🦈

Went to 'Desperately Seeking Susan' (Rosanna Arquette, Madonna, Aidan Quinn) at Metrograph on the Lower East Side on Monday night. (The 40th anniversary?!) Have seen it before, but it's always a blast to experience it in a full auditorium. People were really into it. The film holds up well.

In February 1971, Black Sabbath played its only shows in the East Village, at the Fillmore East, located on 2nd Avenue & 6th Street, during the Paranoid tour. A $5.50 ticket got you into see the show, which included the J. Geils Band. (The venue was open from 1968-71.) RIP Ozzy! 🤘

East Village artist Maria De Victoria is beginning a series of gallery shows at unexpected spaces in the neighborhood, starting with the Village Gourmet Grocery on the SE corner of 2nd Avenue and 6th Street tonight (6/13) from 6-8. 2 residents have created the East Village Music Festival, a community celebration set for Sunday, June 22, from noon to 7 p.m. at La Plaza Cultural, the community garden on the SW corner of Avenue C and Ninth Street. Music aside, the event will also feature local food vendors.
