sticking to what i'm good at: in my new song i weakly sing "i have no idea what's going on" repeatedly over a trap beat with 5 copies of digitalis on the master track.

so basically you can think about making music like building a house: bricks are good house materials, so your waveform should be rectangular like them. not spiky like a sea urchin, those are not house materials.

i posted this before getting to celeste norfair which is maybe the strongest case of this in silksong that i've seen thus far. a whole area built around pressure/time crunch mechanics but ended up being some of the most fun 2d platforming i've played in a while.

silksong has this weird thing about it where one of the main emotions i get from it is a feeling of "oh wait, that wasn't so bad after all." just a constant stream of mechanics/level design that initially look deeply unpleasant but end up being used in pretty cool ways.
