The Lepto bats (Lesser Long Nose) are still around every night. Although this morning there was a bit of nectar left in the feeder; perhaps they are heading back south again as it's usually emptied. Gluttunous and messy little creatures. #bats

The Cranford Rose Garden’s fall flush has arrived! 🌹 In September, a second flush of roses blooms in Cranford and the Rose Arc, alongside delightful dahlias, hibiscuses, lilies, and more. BBG’s director of Horticulture Shauna Moore estimates these blooms will last until mid-October.

I propose that whenever a public figure dies, we should limit their obituaries and memorials to the words that came out of their mouths and fingers. We should remember them by what they gave to us.

Last week in NYC I sat with a friend I’ve known for 30 yrs. He retold me the story of how he was supposed to be in tower 2 for a meeting on 9/11 but it got cancelled that morning. He worked at a building just a block away. It is stunning the grief folks carry, still.

Last week I had an interesting experience in the cemetery at the Trinity Churchyard & St. Paul’s cemetery (where Hamilton is buried). I was getting pinched on my hips & thighs and literally thought I had a bee in my pants. No bee or any insect. Perhaps something wanted my attention. #paranormal

For 12 years I’ve waited for these guys to find my hummingbird feeder. I’m utterly excited (and a little exhausted) from watching them last night. Lesser Long-Nosed #bats (Leptonycteris curasoae) migrate in the summers from southern MX and Central America. They are still a vulnerable species.

Not much rain, but the skies have been dreamy this last week.

Good riddance this MF. Maybe we can class action his estate to pay for our years of therapy.

For the record, our division commander BANNED things called “presence patrols” in Iraq. “If you don’t have a specific task & purpose, your ‘presence’ doesn’t do anything.” National Guard stating they are now doing presence patrols in DC. A complete waste of soldier’s time & effort.
