Tonight we did our first house concert fundraiser for the Arkansas River Delta Blues Trail. I had a blast playing blues and roots music and telling stories of the Delta characters I grew up with

I spent some time with gentleman from Wabbaseka Arkansas. He was a school mate of Bobby Rush at Sherrill Arkansas School and used to listen to Quern Sylvia Embry (Burton) sing gospel as a teenager in Wabbaseka. I’m learning some stuff, man!

Festival season!!!

The Juke Joint Festival in Clarksdale was everything that was advertised. We had a blast! I firmly believe that the most pure music in America is performed in the inner cities with hip hop and in Clarksdale Ms, Pine Bluff Arkansas and in the Yazoo River basin. Don’t believe me, do your research.

I am really, really excited to get to play Arkansas Delta Blues at the premiere Blues Festival in America.

I had the great pleasure of speaking with a forgotten bluesman from the Arkansas River Delta Blues Trail’s footprint today. Coot Campbell, born in Wabbaseka, lives in Little Rock today. 91 years old with a story that deserves to be told.

In doing research for the ARDB trail, Big Bill Broonzy’s Arkansas home always listed Lake Dick, Reydel, or Langston, Pine Bluff and Little Rock. I think we have found a clue on an Arkansas River map that listed plantations. Langford, not Langston, is halfway between Reydel and Lake Dick. Thoughts?
