flew from japan to vienna yesterday, will break 1000km in night trains tonight 🚘✈️ can't say if sleeping this little is good or bad for jetlag 🥱, never dealt with it before in this capacity, its quite the delirious experience haha

Just checked my phone and it says I walked over 300km in the last 16 days 😅 Japan trip is now over though and my feet can relax for two days as I spend time in planes and trains to meet the VR crew in Amsterdam!

I did it! Despite some pains at the beginning (cycled completely around first island bc I missed the exit to the bridge, added 25km to the tour 🤣) I completed the tour! Definately a lifetime experience, although I would still put Brennerpass and the south tirole ascent to the dolomites above it

I am now in Osaka, at the AIVR25 conference, where I just held my presentation on the merits of qualitative, user-oriented Social VR research! Feeling very honored to have received the best presentation award for my session - means a lot for a sociologist in an otherwise rather STEM heavy field 🙏

Yesterday, I held a presentation at Keio University, in Prof. Takemitsu Morikawa's gradutate school colloquium. My first ever presentation in Japan! Very impressed by the uni and the ppl I got to meet :) Afterwards, we went to an old Izakaya, definately not something I would have done on my own!

Japan is up to a great start! Took me some time to get used to the humidity and adjust my sleep though! In the last 24 hours I checked out a DJ event, some denim stores and e-earphones in akibahara! I couldn't live here long term lol, would just spend all of my money 😅

Genuinely, I am only two days into my "eat, sleep, write" marathon but somehow its... super rewarding!? I legit have made so many improvements to my text by just hyper-focusing on it 24/7. Its not something I could keep up for long, but I see the merit in these "writing retreat" thingys now 😅

The dissertation project I started in March 2021 will be over soon. I made the decision to hand in the text to the printers on 2nd June. I can't believe this is really happening. Still several fires to put out in my manuscript, but I think I can barely manage it. Putting in degenerate hours atm 😵‍💫

last round of lit review is killing me... its like I step into an entirely new field of research each time I want to check up on a footnote 😵‍💫
