Big shifts in Italy's retail movement. Discussions on closing supermarkets on Sundays to cut costs. Reminds me somewhat of the Sunday opening hours debate from the 90s.

It's incredibly sad to see this. Let's not forget the trauma that is associated with poor / bad / incompetent management. The last few years been hard on cooperative mgmt. Rightly so. It must be better. Not the shambles we see at the largest Coop a d the apex.

Apparently the BBC are reporting on poor leadership practices at the Group. Are we surprised? No, not in the slightest. The rot begins at the source. CUK has been failing for years now. Central has made progress, yet other societies are struggling with Mgmt.

Should the Cooperative Party align with the Green Party? Labour is failing the country and the membership. Yes, it's a big move, bit the world is changing very rapidly before our eyes.

The UN Int. Year is ending with record income figures and high-gloss galas. But at Holyoake House, the technical debt is due. You can't run a movement on branding when you’ve purged the people who actually knew how it worked.

Another year ends, and the latest figures from Co-operatives UK are out. Record turnover, memberships holding steady at over 65 million, fictional as mutuals now boost the figures massively. On paper, growth. But dig deeper – indie co-ops are struggling, with worker co-ops barely growing.

Paul is an unsung hero of the UK movement. Demonised by former board members of CUK because of his views. Yet, the man stands on the right side of history. The team at CI remember him from his work in the music industry. He knows what's, what.

Let's be honest with members and supporters of the movement. We've treated them incredibly poorly and they deserve better. The movement in the UK used to be held in high regard. We are quickly turning into a Trump presidency. The secrets can't stay hidden for long.

Next weekend, co-operators gather in Rochdale, the birthplace of our movement, for Congress. But there’ll be no hard talk. No serious debate. Just curated stories and applause. A movement that once empowered members now fears their questions.

Congress is coming up. Another year. Another big theme. (Like they care). Beneath the banners and speeches, real questions remain. Who’s this really for? Who’s benefiting? And who’s being left behind? The movement should be member-led, not managed for optics.

Credit where it’s due. Members backed the motion on trade with Israel, showing the power of collective values in action. And yes, political donations matter too. Ordinary people backing a party rooted in co-op values is a counterweight to billionaire-funded politics.

Something’s not right at the heart of the UK co-op movement. We’ve watched with growing concern as Co-operatives UK, an organisation we’ve supported and worked alongside for years, struggles with what can only be described as a leadership crisis.

A well trusted and respected CEO is due to stand down. Robin Feith is to leave the BSA. This is a great shame as he's served as a beacon of hope. A man of principles who cared deeply about the BS and CU members. A great loss to the wider movement.

It's a great privilege to be followed by people from the Co-op movement that we immensely respect. That said, this isn't a movement of personalities, it's built on dedicated cooperators, their passion and drive. What we do together is far more important than any one individual.

In a time when co-op leaders chase headlines and hashtags, it’s Anca doing the real work, asking hard questions, highlighting crises, and refusing to look away when others do. The movement owes her more than just a quiet thanks.

Prof. Talbot’s piece on leadership & CVF is insightful, but does hierarchy work in co-ops? At Co-operatives UK, top-down control under the current CEO has led to staff exodus & marginalised members. When leadership ignores co-op values, the ship sinks?

Away from the UK. We've been quite concerned by the stock market in India. Indian coop banks could face serious stress if a crash leads to a crisis. A housing slowdown and funding pressure could create instability. Will the Bank of India step in if needed? How will already challenged banks respond.

Longstanding and experienced membership team members are leaving, raising serious questions about Coops UKs culture and direction. When dedicated key staff with deep knowledge of the movement walk away, it’s not just an internal issue, it’s a matter of credibility and effectiveness.
