Slowing down matters when I write. I write about 20 words a minute by hand. people read at about 230-300 words a minutes. So I am writing at 0.08x. I am reminded of that when I write descriptions and dialogue. I am creating in slow motion.

I’ve become enormously protective of ongoing writing projects. Now I don’t even want to tell people I’m working on something.

I am really, really enjoying writing with a solo ttrpg system for generating events. It’s like having a plot generator so I can write draft zero without having to plot out start to finish—because frankly that makes it a chore to write all the scene once you know what happens at the end.
